Compact Bulldog Bone

Thats interesting, Tyler. I actually like the little nubs that Gordon put on and get good control with just my thumb and palm laying against the side. Being able to have good control with it facing away, as it is during ascent, means it does not need to pivot, so no need for a swivel.

Haha, even though that would work, I am not cutting a hole in my nice n thick sweatshirts :frio:
It's cold out! I'll stick with the bungee
I have a fleece type shirt with a zipper neck, with the neck unzipped, the biner on my chest harness is accessible from under the shirt.. Perfect for most winter climbs.

I am still trying to dial in the neck tether I made, but it is not workin for me

I did try a short e2e around my neck. It was bulky and kinda weird, I'll have to look up some threads to see how guys are making them.

I took some 8mm hitch cord, pulled the core out, and weaved some of that treemotion bungee back through it, tied it to a small biner. Or use 10mm cord and a fatter bungee from treestuff which is a bit tougher

I personally like a neck tether better than a chest harness or any other option I've tried. It just seems the least restrictive. I do see the point though, which was mentioned before, that it could be a choking hazard.

My neck bungee was comfortable, but as others have said, didn't do a great job of tending the BDB. I'll have to try Mike's tending point and see how that changes things.

Since I tend my knee ascender from the same point as the BDB/HH/RR, I dislike using a neck tether. I was using an over the shoulder strap but got tired of it pulling up on the back of the saddle. Now I'm happily using a figure 8 harness I made out of 5/8" webbing (mule tape) with an adjustable buckle to allow for clothing differences.

Using an adjustable rope bridge allows me to set the BDB low, in a good position to be tended by the harness while climbing.

I did too at first. Pondered for quite some time about how i could get around the nubs.

I'm all about the HAAS being attached as high as possible, as well. That gives you maximum stride. I also ran a loop 8...for a while, but switched to swingdude's chest harness. The loop 8 is great if you can lock stitch the 'x' in the back, along with capturing the connectors in front at the right places. Without stitches, I found the loop would drift and get too tight around my shoulder/back of the neck area.

Swing's harness covers all the issues inherent with the loop 8. I really like it because it can be adjusted quick on the fly. Snug for ascent, free for work positioning. You can also sit back comfortably if you want to eat a peanut butter & banana sammich.

I had one of these but toasted. I wasn't sure if i liked it or not!
It's all about ratios, man. You might have had a banana & peanut butter sammich, which is TOTALLY different than a peanut butter & banana sammich. Next time I make one, I'm gonna toast it...or maybe I'll pan fry it for a bit, like a grilled cheese.

We could have a TreeBuzz sammich-fest rec climb celebration when this thread hits 40 pages. That might be in January sometime. Goooooooo Bones Brigade!!!

If you already have the skillet out to pan fry the sammich, you should add bacon.
YES! I'll do the bacon first...LOTS of it, and then cook the sammich in the bacon fat. This is the time of year for that. I'm ready for lunch already!

Has anyone considered incorporating stretch cord into a chest harness, in a way similar to yoyoman's SAKA, but to tend the bone?

It seems like it could work.

Now I need a sewing machine.

When my bone arrives I plan on making some type of bungie lanyard and see how it works. I have a lot of elastic cord I use on my hunting packs. should be able to come up with something.

I would not, only because it would reduce the tending capabilities. Stretch is a detriment in my opinion. I like the positive feel of webbing alone, especially when connecting to the DSRT system I've been using lately, which is 2 Bones and a HAAS.
