Compact Bulldog Bone

You'll notice in the photo I just posted that the Bones would be back to back if they were aligned parallel. This is the only issue I've found with using a single swivel...you need to determine the best orientation for the position at hand. It's no big deal at all to lanyard in and flip the orientation of one of the Bones to create a fairlead for the tail coming out of the lower arms. I would say that over 75% of the time, I have the arms oriented the same direction when installed in the same eye.

The point is...This is the best swivel I've ever ever used. Unlimited options for 3 systems in either eye without being a huge bulky piece of kit. What more do you want?

Guess you haven't tried the large?
Honestly though, I'm not sure I'd worry much about side loading at the bridge. Maybe that's a silly statement but it's always right in front your face. I think I'd notice b4 putting weight on it.

But with the Ocean's style, 3 attachments at the swivel, that might change things.

tried any of the DMM's with the flatter more "D" shaped holes?...

I just put the small DMM Axis swivel on my bridge. I like it a lot and don't envision any problems with the smaller eyes. I have my carabiner trapped on the BDB with the gate opening down at the swivel. Works like a charm.

I've rocked the Petzl S, DMM S, and now the RE Rotator. IMO, the RE Rotator offers the best function in the most compact form from what I can tell. I've seen the large versions of the other brands and they seemed bigger than the RE Large. Plus, I have a cozy recliner in my heart for the RE Rock-O carabiner, so there you have it.

With the Bone, rotating the carabiner gate through the swivel eye isn't necessary like I found with other multiscender systems. What I do find, however, is that I can't quite attach a second carabiner while my primary is under load in any swivel but the RE. I'd have to nudge things into the eye, or unweight the system. With the RE Rotator L, you can attach anything at any orientation at any time. That's why it's my choice.

I've been using the small DMM for a month and found getting a second carabiner through the opening not workable too.

I also noticed wear on the eye that the bridge is passing through as warned about by DSMc.

Damn, wear is visible in just a month? It is rated for use on a bridge so I would hope for at least a reasonable service life. If not I might just go back to a bridge ring as the BDB is still easy to use without a swivel anyway.

Wear is inevitable. If you want to see real wear take a look at how descenders used by big wall climbers wear. I've talked with reps from gear manufacturers who have broken worn gear and found a lot of strength left. If wear is a concern go to steel. Maybe the Rock Exotica one with the clevis pin

I understand that wear is going to happen, I guess I just expected it to take longer than a month. I've never seen a thing on the aluminum rings on my bridge (about a year on them right now), but I guess that is because it doesn't get loaded the same way every time. Never owned a swivel for climbing before. Good idea regarding the shackle swivels.
