Compact Bulldog Bone

I went through a few lines before I went to KM3, several failed. Several appeared to work until I got out of position and pushed back with my feet, then they would slip at various speeds and times. The KM3 was the one that I found stayed the most secure and consistent no matter what position I was in. Where I found the biggest problem with other lines was when I was hooked in and pushing back on the spikes to bring the saw around (not running and 2 feet off the ground) but it was very unnerving to have both hands on the saw and have the lanyard start slipping. That was enough for me and I ordered some KM3 right away. Problem solved.
Did you try Escalator?

Doughnagys is my next purchase I think. I just cant believe I'm going to cheat on Yale for the first time during my time climbing.... The 11.7 yale lines flatten out thru the bone. Wanted to go with safari but doesn't sound like it hold up to wear the same as the cougar lines.

I just got some vortex the other day, and have been loving it in the bone. Much less elongation than tachyon. Very happy, easier on the hands too.

Absolutely Mac, I love it too and Gordon set mine up for it anyway. I got kind of big hands and the thicker stuff ...yes, easier on the hands (thumbs up).

But it is Velocity I am going to run on the BOLA....for starters.

Dave, I hope you'll get some good time on the Bone. Truly fantastic for SRT. DdRT on it will never 'look' as slick and clean as a ZigZag, but it certainly operates beautifully. The lower friction bollard modulates with the load applied, so in DdRT it sees less and doesn't provide too much grab. Only thing is it wants to flop over when pulling from above so you have to tend slack every couple arm-pulls.

I have never been nor will I ever be non SRT on the bone Eric. Just sometimes SRT doesn't make sense from a quick up and down and pull your rope out standpoint...for that I have 2 zig zags. I love the srt, hate the ground anchor on td's especially and a canopy anchor is not (honestly) feasible so far as being easily retrievable. Viva la difference. I like em both...use em both, all the time.

PS...I fkn love to climb...still.

Ok, though the Bone can excel for Crane Work. DdRT off the ball and seamless switch to SRT on the spar. I'm sure you know all this, though I'm also sure you have something that you prefer, or that works for you.

PS...I fkn love to climb...still.
Don't we all? (At least everyone on this thread);)

I took off 20 lbs recently and wasn't fat or anything before at 195. New love. It just feels so much better torquing myself around now. I once dropped to 147 to climb in a contest and felt like a spider monkey. I am a habitual gym rat. But nothing makes your body feel better than climbing (not spiking).

DSC_0001.webp Just before Christmas it has arrived! Some thoughs from the customs who asked what this thingy was. Well, it's for SRT obviously, I replied. Did no get any further comments from them...
Hitchless Christmas! Off climbing... Well maybe after Christmas, my wife tells me...
Merry Christmas to you all!

As a rope/BDB combination datapoint, a couple of months ago I started using Cougar Grey with the 5/8" bollard based on recommendations from Worthaug, and it has been really good for me (climbing weight 180 lbs.).

Got the bone coming and some tachyon. Any feedback from users of tachyon with the bone? Thanks
It's an all around great line to climb with the bone .Tends well.. fairly consistent release ..its a different feel than a hitch.metal sliding down rope just feels a bit different tham cordage to me..works better after breaking in a bit.. The cougars really awesome as well. I've even got an elongated top bollard and new arms from Gordon that allow my arrowfrog to perform really well like these other two mentioned. Previously it would flatten and creep, with this new bollard its created the perfect amount of friction to stop slipping yet still Tends great.

I opened my bone up the other day to try swapping the tie-in teardrop out for a petzl paw I had lying around but unfortunately the paw is a tiny bit too large to pivot around nicely in that spot. I was thinking it'd be really nice to have a second clip in there for doubled ropes. Has anybody else tried this, maybe one of the other brands of paws will fit in there?

Tachyon worked well for me for a while. The interface with the bone is great. I just don't like how bunch tachyon is. Some don't mind it. I did. I actually wasn't using my bone all that much for a while because I didn't have a rope to compliment it. I just got on vortex at the beginning of December and fell in love all over again. Big fan
