Compact Bulldog Bone

I think that a slick pin on either side of the tending hole in your picture above, Gordon, with a spacer to account for the offset created by the protruding links, might be all that is required to lock two regular bones together for ascent.

(The spacer wood need to be integral to the spine.)

Cougars bomb brother.
I didn't want to be the one to say it, but yeah.......and I can think of one other who would agree...dude has agreed over and over to the point where he refuses to say it agin.

Personally, tach or cougar. Either one will make that bone do what it's suppose to, but tach picks and cougar doesn't.

Call me crazy, just don't call me late for supper.

Wow. Whip out Wednesday.

Glad the new color scheme works well. I'm digging the blue, but I'm probably going to end up with another hank or 2 of the cougar.

My cougar puke has loved every type of mechanical and style of climbing I have ever done. I have even cut bad spots out and sent it off to get another stitched eye on it. It just lasts forever. I have used the same line longer than I have used any line in the past. It's more expensive but in this case you get what you pay for. I have the brand new prism I won on the wall and have never climbed on it. It sure looks pretty but i'll stick with the cougar. I have a long line and short line plus an even shorter line in the box. If I ever got a triple threat it would be all cougar.

I run a triple threat type system. I buy 125' hanks of rope, splice 2 eyes and ajoin 3 of them together with quick links. Works great! And if a rooe wears out, you are only on the hook for a 125' hank. Totally affordable. Cougar is my favorite so far. It's plenty static, and it runs well.

Gavin, I see what you are saying, and just don't have time to try it, what with making Bones and doing a 28 Ac. survey.
You will have to buy another Bone and tell us your results! : )

Where's oceans when you need him. Mr. Gonfu I like what your theorizing ,just not sure if the work is necessary. Twin bones hooked up to a swing cheztie might be all that's required for smooth ascents .

Ok. copyright transferred:bailando:

I think detent pins would work for this And they are more readily available.

Glad to hear bdb sales are good. I show every climbér I come across and any customer or anyone else who will listen my bdb .

LeT me try when I find time and I'll tell you how it works.

Can you post a pic of how you put your triple threat together?

COuld you use the petzl open? Maybe I could use the runner and the bone at the same time as I love them both>
I suppose you could. No reason not to. I use the deltas because they are cheap and easy. I'll try to post pics, but basically I ascend a single line, then once i reacj the TIP I switch over to a choked system with bunny ears and the third line is for retreival. Easy peesy, and you can swap out ropes however you want depending on the job and what device you are going to use.

The concept of the triple threat(though simple) made DRT a viable option for me. Super simple, but I would be lost without it at this point when I want DRT positioning. Up until I understood that 2 lines could be set simultaneously, I felt like DRT was for rec climbers only. I make money with DRT now. Straight up.

So not to derail Gordon's thread. I'm wondering about the bunny ears. 2 alpine butterflies on either side of the tip? Maybe not. That would be impossible to retrieve from the ground I guess. Unless you had a link on both knots then your other rope anchored on one link and running through the other.
