cocoon pulley

Does anyone have a pic of the inside of the ART cocoon pulley, where the line attaches to? I'm trying to get an idea of how large this opening is, what will fit in there (splice). Does the cocoon fit through a standard large ring or is it like the PINTO and it needs a larger ring to use as a homemade AFC? Thanks!

The anchor for a cocoon Pulley is a stainless pin secured by screwing the top on tightly over a gasket to keep it from unscrewing. I do not have an exact measurement nor pics although I can takes some tomorrow if no one else beats me to it.

I have an 8 mm piece of Ice Tail mechanical stitched into a loop attached to mine. The two parts exit nice. Not to much, not too little.

I don't recall about fitting through a ring although I can check that too.

it just fits through a standard large ring, although I think it is a bit tight. what has worked for my home made rope guide is a home made large eye splice with thin slivers of the hard plastic of the spacers in cobra cable. I also made a cone (out of the same plastic and electrical tape) to go over the cocoon pully to make a smooth transition when pulling out the rope guide

I've spliced two cords that work well in the ART Cocoon that I use; 8 mm Ocean Polyester (OP) with a Class I double braid splice and 5/16 Ultra-Tech with a Class II double braid splice. I spliced slightly larger "tight eyes" with both and they fit well. The only problem with Ultra-Tech is that with the Class II splice the bury is a little deep and stiffens up the cord a little further back than you may like which results in a little longer cord, i.e., loop. With the 8 mm OP you can pretty much do a standard splice as long as you leave the "tight eye" a hair bigger so that you have room to get the eyes through the cap opening and instal it on the pin.

O.K here we go: The tape in the pics is CM

Top down with pin. The pin will go north/south (as pictured) or east/west.

Thats it. Hope it helps.
