I usally use a Blake's hitch but would like to add some closed loop hitches to my techniques. I hear the tend better but are also more fickle than the Blake. I am climbing on Vortex 12.7MM for my DDRT line. Any help on knot preference and length since they seem to come in a few lengths. Thanks.

I think a Scwabish or Distel is a good closed hitch to start with. A short cord, say 28" with sewn eyes might be a good starting point.

If you wanted you just buy 3' or so of a few cords (10mmOP, HRC, Icetail, 10mm Armor Prus, THe new Sterling 9mm RIT..) and then experiment with different hitches and length using double fishermans knots. Once you have it dialed in just call Luke or Chad at TreeStuff and tell them what you want and what length and get it sewn up.

Once you are comfortable with the Scwabish, there are plenty of sportier options.

Low and Slow!

I am a fan of armour plus for my blakes, I was thinking 28" Armour plus in 10mm(same as my blakes split tail) tied in a Michoacan Martin. It is supposed to be the closed version of a Blakes. Whatever I buy always comes from Luke & Chad, those guys have made me believe since my first order. Great service, prices, and always happy to talk different options through. Between the free upgrades and the fact that they have talked me into cheaper options when applicable, it is like they care more about my happiness than my money.
