Climbing on Swivels

Thanks for that answer, macswan. Forgive me if this has already been covered elsewhere, but what is the reason for removing the core from the sixteen strand? Thanks in advance.

I Love having a swivel with Srt. I don't like it on doubled rope. It seems to me that after you twist around a bit, and then proceed to man pull yourself up, the whole system swivels back like it has memory and makes tending slack ackward. This happen to anyone else?

On Ddrt w a swivel, you can spin to your hearts content but it still twists up at your tip so what's the point?
I think gu said he puts a swivel on bridge and one on tip, which would be the only way it would work but that has it's downfalls.
I use a swivel for DSRT, ring for srt

...but that has it's downfalls.

Yeah.. biggest one is that you have to set the anchor in the tree. Not a big deal for me, I used to always gaff the tree on removals to set anchors, and now access SRT and do it. The SRT lines are the only ones I set/retrieve from the ground, although I'm working on an anchor for the DdRT lines that will let me retrieve them from the ground. Will still have to set them in the tree, which I don't mind, but would be nice to just pull everything else down from the ground.

It is not load bearing, it's just there to maintain the shape. You wind up with a flattish bridge without the core. I guess it's just preference really.

Hey, Simpleiowaguy! Do you have a favorite cordage you use for your bridge replacements? Or is it more like "I just use whatever is handy"? Thanks in advance for any answer you choose to give in this regard.

I like to use kmIII in 7/16 or 1/2. I lockstitch the end and shrink. I just get 20ft and make like 6 of them
