Climbing an ancient Wisconsin bur oak

Hello,
I am starting to climb recreationally after 2 years of not being in a tree due to an accident. I went out last week when we had some double digit temperatures to climb a bur oak I had found this summer and test out some new gear. It was a tough tree to access because the lower 3/4 of the tree was full of large deadwood, but it was worth it once I got up there. Sat up in the canopy and watched the sunset and I will return to the tree again soon.

Thanks for checking out the climb, and hope everyone's getting up into and out of the trees safely.
Matt

I would estimate 80 feeet to the tips. I should really get into measuring the big trees I climb.

This is based on the fact I was on my 150' rope, tied in about 10 feet from the tallest growth, and had roughly 10 feet left in the rope bag.

There is actually a 2nd bur oak about 50 feet away, same height, but much less mass, but they dominate the trees around it. It's a great little forest, with a lot of really old sugar maples, American beech, silver maples (along the creek), basswood, and ash, with many that are worth the climb. The only issue is that there is a path that runs through which can be pretty busy, even in winter, which makes ninja climbing a little tougher in without the leaves on.
