I love all my safety equipment, I love my PPE (most of the time) and all my climbing gear, I love being on rope so I can work with both my hands without having to worry about falling but I bet it's freeing just to walk up to a tree just you and your saw and climb it and get shit done.

Magnus is a world class rock climber and Leo is an extreme tree climber.

I dont mess around with those sorts of heights. But barefoot and trees goes very well together. There is a park where my daughter plays soccer that has a lot of apple trees and apricot trees in an old orchard. Myself and the other two kids spend the whole soccer practice monkeying around in the trees. With shoes it is definitly harder to feel secure. Barefeet feel right in a tree. Not necessarily on rope. I have built up the necessary calluses in the past to footlock barefoot but it has never felt awesome. But bare feet and trees were clearly meant for eachother.

My big brother broke his back and neck transferring from one tree to another, and failing. Crawled/dragged ~18hrs back to his cabin. I love barefoot and aidless climbing but don’t push limits anymore. Thanks to a rockstar surgeon he got back to full mobility.
