clean cut crews.

Well said treehumper. You catch more bees with honey than vinegar. This being said everyone has thier own opinion, but sometimes the more you yell and scream and bang your head the sillier you look and sound!

Humper, I couldn't agree with you more on working from within the system to make changes.

I would just add that working from within means with honor, integrity and honesty.

There is nothing worse than a sabateur trying to make change. All they end up doing is destroying that which they sought to improve. Some change takes time and requires a different understanding. The old saying still holds true: "A Man Convinced Against His Will, Is Of The Same Opinion Still."

Change from within requires honest debate and honest consideration of the facts and evidence. Without it, it will become nothing but a brawl!

yep, that's the truth RF. It's a challenge akin sometimes to pushing water uphill. With honest debate and an understanding of the common ground then change can be affected.

I am begging, pleading, imploring that is, RF, Humper, cuttenwolf, et al. to fill out the TCIA/ANSI/OSHA questionairre. This is the type of involvement and input the ASC committee is looking for. I think we are thoroughly motivated now, let us begin to act accordingly. This post is great by the way.

Unfortunately you are correct Xman; bring back the blaster and good ridins to hollen.

I have worked for all types of companies. Some were nicknamed "Biker Tree" who had great treeman who seemed to miss hitting those great customers. On the other hand I have worked for "Clean Cut" sevices who also had great treeman that were able to have a different client and the latter situation seemed to pay off well with a minimal amount of stress, so often associated with being a gypsy.

The truth may rub some wrong. The reality is everyone from the owner on down is a salesman and must conduct thierselves in a manner that would want a customer to repeat.

And you say "bring back Blaster?" He's the sloopiest hack I've ever seen on a tree job, not to mention his criminal history...yeah, let him out at any of my jobsites and kiss my business goodbye.

Oakwilt, it's always nice to see you jump in with something so constructive. If you spent half as much energy doing something useful for society as you do in spewing garbage on the forums, something positive might happen.

As for clean -cut crews? Appearance is everything. That doesn't have to mean you roll with the newest equipment. Clean your truck now and then. Repaint it when it needs it. Keep it looking like it's cared for.

Also...

Have a crew in uniform, even if it's just matching jeans and CLEAN company t-shirts. Don't leave coffee cups, cigarette butts, fast food wrappers, etc. lying about. Watch your language. Keep your chatter with the customer professional- (No whining about the price of fuel, the candidates for office, or your ex-wife).

If you mean the one that Tom just posted RE the OSHA survey...already done my friend! If there is another one, please send me in the right direction!

Hey JIM454! Great opportunity to jump into the process. We could use your help too!

Blinky, what about you?!

Guy M. I'm sure you've all ready weighed in on the OSHA thing but if not, please do so!

I was saying bring back MasterBlaster because although I didn't agree with him on most things, he isn't as irritating as Hollenjerk.

I think that MasterBlaster was like most of the general tree guys out there, rough, crude and old-school.

Well, I missed this whole summer on Tree-buzz so I don't know what got him kicked off, so I can't comment on that.

It's good to have some guys on here that represent all the different types of tree guys out there.

And it's good to have some drama and not everyone kissing butt on a forum.

I read some of Hollenjerks comments to people and he attacks quite a bit and ticks a lot of people off. But I have to admit, some of it makes me laugh when I read it. So, what the heck, keep it up.

I have a huge pile of Arborist membership renewals, magazines and stuff next to my TV chair, but have't had time to go through it.

I'm pretty sure that survey for TCIA and OSHA is in that pile. It's due by December or January, right?
