I think having the longer trailer will be nice for selling logs to a veneer mill. They buy almost all my logs, even firewood if it’s cut 3’ or shorter and they unload all the wood there so I don’t have to worrry about dumping it and make money on the byproducts.
Selling logs is a great idea. Especially selling veneer. The problem is getting the wood out and on a trailer in a size the mill will pay for. This was a gorgeous red oak we had to split to get it out of the back yard fenced in area. Logs are great if they are by the road or you can get a truck to them. I would save your money then buy a longer trailer to sell logs.
Absolutely not! Chipper will be your biggest time saver all around. The mini is a time saver when it compliments a correctly sized chipper. Loading brush on a trailer can be frustrating with a mini because of reach, both height and how far across the trailer. Both measurements are short. The load above was loaded with 3‘ forks so I could set it in from the one side. But all the top stuff had to be rolled off with a PV. My root grapple can only set wood or brush in the middle of the trailer. But you would buy a mini before a chipper as well if you had the option between the two?
