Chainsaw pants for climbing

Just wondering what types of chainsaw pants you guys where when climbing. I've done the chaps thing and am over it so now I'm looking to by a good pair of protective pants for season round work. I looked up Stihl's HiFlex's which it looks like you can only get them in Europe so now I'm thinking SIP 5.1s. I know the price is high but its still way cheaper then a trip to the ER. Let me know your opinons, both good and bad and what you use.

Howdy,
Up here in Canada a lot of people use Big Bill pants... I find them a little heavy for the 30c weather but they are very durable. I've been wearing a pair from Huqvarna all winter which seem great though havn't had the summer test yet. They have heavy protection all around the leg, however the design incorporates a very breathable meshy/pourous material, but which is also durable.

Wow, do you realy climb with chaps? That's determination.
Anyhow, here's a website which has a pair that are very appealling to me... you may be interested as well.

I've found the SIPs quite comfortable on the ground. There have been only a couple of opportunities to wear them in the tree. When I did, they were comfy. Other pants bunch up and make it hard to move around with a saddle on.

I just use chaps, they are light weight and air gets around them for when it gets hot, And it show off my great butt /forum/images/graemlins/taz.gif

I use Pfanners Stretch Air Kevlar extreme for now. They are the best combination for both climbing and groundwork. Sip is not durable enough and gets quite saggy after a while. Pfanner is now producing a new climbing trouse with protective layers, I will get one just over easter. I´ll post a pic as soon as I can.

Mark,

Yeah I saw you and Strasser had them at ISA Conference in Nashville and that was my fist pic. I could only find them being sold on UK websites and companies I emailed said they wouldn't export so I guess the 5.1's will have to do. At least they better, you're suppose to be here tomorrow.

I have been wearing the sip 5.1 for about a year and a half. They are the best pants that i have ever worn. nice and light. Cool in summer and warm in winter. I wear them at work every day in the week. Still plenty of life in them.

I just bought some of the Hi-flex pants, found them on e-bay..... i bid and won the auction without doing the math of pounds to dollors.... anyone care to figure 152.00 pounds to dollors.

Its $273.00 !!!! I just paid 273 dollors for a pair of pants! My wife is going to kill me!! j/k

Really great pants though, i hope that the price goes down in the near future.
