Can I sue a fig 8 as a bridge ring?

I have a 30 kn fig 8 can I use it on my bridge. I am waiting for my replacement rings that were recalled by Bartlett and don't want to buy new ones.

Sure don't see why not, if it works for you, it works for me. What does Rich H. think of it? That would be the question

why did bartlett recall your bridge ring ? do you regulary climb 80ft into a tree, take your saddle off and throw onto a drive way? i use a floating bridge and never understood the need for a ring//

A couple answers to your Q's, CMTB... The rings were recalled from Sherrill and Kong, and I'm sure that Rich H. from Bartlett is on it, so that's why Scott turned'em in. Not for dropping his gear hahaha!

Second, if you use a Hitchclimber or similar pulley setup, the ring orients your gear perpendicular with your body, the way you want it. The hC setup is no good sideways.

well i say yes then.. when i think about, why not use a steel port a wrap,, just aslong as you havent used it for lowering,,

No joke, I've seen that done before. A climber who worked off a crane used it to lower himself after he set the slings. Kinda big and bulky IMO. Plus, their are many easier ways.

yea the ring is the best way to go on the bridge also because you can slip the biner out of it if you have to reposition your line you cant do that with most of the mini pulleys out there and just a biner on the bridge is a little sketchy cuz from taking your weight on and off it you can possibly side load the biner
