Calling all treemotion climbers

Now that the motion has been out for a while, i was wondering if we could get an update from everyone that has been using them..... how has the wear and tear been from you everyday climbers? I am on the fence about buying one but just don't see how it would hold up to my style/line of work..... its either the motion or the treeflex...

thank you

i love my treemotion, i beat the day lights out of it and so far so good, i have heard concern about a sharp d ring wearing out the leg straps at an alarming rate but i have yet to see this on my saddle. the colder months are upon us here in new jersey and honestly, my saddle is handling the extra clothing too well, i recently purchased the suspenders, they should be in today, i hope it helps, i think the saddle sits so low that its hard for my sweatshirt to stay underneith, so i end up having my back exposed to the elements

as far as the treeflex goes, i havent sat in one or used one before, but they do look great and they based themselves off of an excellent concept, less restriction for better breathing, i am actually thinking about buying one after christmas, i like the srt set up built right in, i had to pay 120 bucks for suspenders for my treemotion just to have the ability to use a chest ascender, and even now i dont know how it sets up, if my package comes today ill take some pics of the elusive treemotion suspenders for ya

Nothing but praise for the Treemotion! I have climbed hard in mine for about 1 year now. Nothing has worn prematurely. I will continue to climb with it until TMII comes out and then I will climb with that! What else would you expect? This harness has been engineered and manufactured by Western Europeans! Why in the world would professional arborists design a piece of gear that didn't last? I have not climbed with the Treeflex but it also appears to be a well engineered/manufactured harness with years of experience behind its development.

okay, i got my suspenders in today for my treemotion and i am more than just disapointed. i honestly dont see why it cost me 120 bucks for a couple of nylon loops and a metal dorsal ring, the ring is the same as the lower d rings on the treemotion. it has the ability to attach a chest ascender to them but its a pretty rigged up kinda way to do it and it doesnt come with the proper equipment and straps to do so. i am actually considering selling my treemotion and suspenders to buy a treeflex, i just feel like ive been had, i mean, the saddle cost so much and was worth the money but the suspenders are ridiculously cheap and couldnt have cost much money at all to make, they actually remind me of the secur suspenders that sherrill sells for 22 bucks yet i paid 122 bucks for these

mark, wanted to update you on the peltor comm system. The first set they sent me was used, so for that kind of money I sent them right back. Got the new set in on monday and they are awesome. Its great to have constant communication w/ groundie. Also can poke fun at the homeowner w/ out them knowing lol.

thanks for the update but just pm this stuff otherwise you will be hijacking the thread, also, make sure the homeowners dont have baby monitors cause they can hear your conversations, thanks for the update though, but ill stick to yelling

Sorry for hijacking the thread im sure it can be bypassed...I've actually heard some interesting things from surrounding houses via baby monitors...yelling works but it looks and is much more professional to have the comm system

I have had 5 different saddles.
My TM is by far the best thing since sliced bread!
Its comfy,
versitile with the extra D's,
pads are washable (replacable),
comfy,
It looks bad [censored],
oh ya, and its comfy

It didnt make me a better climber so I am working on growng the dred locks.

i'm wondering, i tried it on once and found it rides a lot lower than other saddles. Does this take time to adjust to? Is it better or worse riding low? specially for removals doesn't seem like it would offer up good back support.

Get this thread back to the real topic.

Lower is better. Changes center of gravity to your hips(or thereabouts) rather than your waist; also part of the idea behind the front D's. Back support schmack support. Like guying a young tree... the more you use it, the more dependent you become.

Marc,

sorry to hear about your dissapointment. All I can say about it is that we have absolutely no input into pricing of the products. Probably just as well... I don't consider myself what you would call a sharp operator businesswise... But hazarding a guess I'd say it also has something - at least to a degree - to do with the ridiculously low dollar exchange rate.

Rather than get too upset and flinging the whole lot overboard I'd suggest maybe just returning the offending item, i.e. the suspenders. Not worth loosing sleep over or developing stomach ulcers and the guys at Sherrill are more than reasonable.

Attached are two set-ups we've used. One using the Teufelberger top assembly with the red front hardware with or without a Croll for SRT. Without you'd use it to spread load if you're running heavy chainsaws. You could also use a Petzl Secur for this.

The other option is just to use a piece of shock cord on top of the Croll to hold it upright. For both options the bottom of the Croll attaches to a Petzl Omni or a Maillon and from there two short slings that attach onto connector onto the front hardware. The advantage this offers is that the load distribution is the same as if you where hanging off the rope bridge. It's not pulling of the waist belt or anything like that. This makes sitting in the Croll less uncomfortable.

So there are a couple of options for you. Sorry again about your grief with the upper assembly and hope that this offers some alternatives.

Could you please post the pictures of what you bought and how you set it up? I'm more than interested in seeing what the product actually looks like.
Thanks
Ted

so i returned the suspenders, sherrill was very accommodating, they said that i wasnt the first person to return the suspenders for the same reason i was, the way i look at it, the suspenders that i recieved called for me to remove the lower straps and install small dynama spectra loops and to use another spreader to connect the croll. well, seeing that this was the reason i purchased the suspenders, i decided to return them and purchase the petzl suspenders for 20 bucks, which will allow me to do the same exact thing the treemotion suspenders offer me.

the downfall of this is that you cannot use the petzl suspenders as a load distributing system, the treemotion suspenders do allow this

mark. i know its not your fault that the suspenders are so expensive, exchange rates are what they are, it was discouraging though to see what the suspenders consisted of, the treemotion was expensive, but when you opened that box you know you got your moneys worth, i was hoping to have that same feeling when i opened the suspenders
