Cabling a spreading silver maple

I can dig the hanging plant scenario. Outside the box.

Some scientific research has been performed on the efficacy of installing dynamic vs. static cabling. Each has their place. To know the limitations and be open minded about the potential advantages is to offer your clients a perspective from which a more balanced management solution can be made.

This upcoming Tipu hanging plant beautification rigging harness will be somewhat challenging.

First order of business is a good pruning. Unfortunately this is one of those wide spreading decurrent species with no central leader, but rather three equidistant main leaders forming a large triangular canopy.

It does however have a single maybe 27 inch DBH trunk, on which I intend to attach 3 hose reels.

The thought of ring cabling the 3 upper leaders together permanently with a central hub has crossed my mind, as it would be handy to rig off of in a symmetrically pleasing manner. However the owner will make that call after I've pruned it, tomorrow.
