There was a rumor that some women climbers were going to show up, I beleive they were student climbers. But to answer your question, no, there wasn't any women climbers in Charlotte.

thanks paul. wonder what happened to the women who were thinking about it..? one enthusiastic male climber could have made all the difference - just puttin that out there in case anyone knew them..

Kathy,

We the CAA Executive Board also recognized the absent of women climbers. Hopefully with the help of treebuzz.com we will be able to have a full-blown women’s comp next year. The CAA-TCC has only had one female climber to compete in our many years. We will rectify that situation, with everyone’s help .

Thanks for asking

What can TCC's do to entice more female competitors show up? I noticed the NEC TCC had at least 3 last year, and there was 1 at ISA Southern. I think we may be missing the boat somehow. I would love to see women competing n TN.

thought i'd share this, in case it helps..

i watched our chapter competition every year, religiously, for almost 10 years before i started competing. never occurred to me to compete, though i climbed every day, because it was all guys and i figured i'd get laughed at. then women finally showed up at the international level, which i thought was really great but was still very far from me. what made me take the plunge into competing - despite being the only woman competing at my chapter - was being approached by the guy putting it together who wanted the chapter to be able to send a woman to the ITCC. the same day i saw wenda and kiah compete (in seattle) in the master's and somehow that did it. two years and two ITCCs later i won the world title. maybe this will happen again in hawaii - who knows?! all i know is that there are other women out there who love to climb. one way to encourage them is to keep asking "where is everyone..?". just like i hear some of you guys starting to do..

just my own experience talking here. my two cents.
