Butterfly ll or Glide Lite

I'm getting a new saddle and I can't decide between the two. I currently have an original Butterfly and I love it but company policy says I have to replace it.

What do you guys think of the Glide Lite?

I'm looking for comfort with minimal accessories, just the way I like it! I'll go with the BF 2 but give me some honest opinions here.

I need to replace my current one as its only CE cert and I need CSA or ANSI equilivant.

Thanks

I have a glide 2. I think it's relatively similar the the butterfly. To me the Glide lite is a bit of a rip off. Sure they have made the saddle lighter, but they removed all the useful accessory stuff to do that. Not only did they take the goodies off but they still haven't addressed basic design flaws(like ball-pinching thin little leg straps that dig into you whenever you hang in it). I like the Glide but Buckingham needs to re-design it with more padding on the leg straps and re-configure the bridge so you hang from the HARNESS!!! and not only the leg straps.

The glide lite is adjustable, if your just hanging from the harness you need to adjust it. I find that the leg straps are a little thin as well but i do like how lite the saddle is.

I've never climbed in the butterfly, but been in a glide 2 and glide lite. They work for me, small complaints here and there but overall a good saddle.

What I meant was that when you hang in the glide it is uncomfortable because most of your weight is in the leg straps, as opposed to a design like the treemotion where the weight is evenly distributed over the legs and back.

The butterfly2 comfy and leg strap design is good as far as pinchig and ansi cert.my tree srvice has baned the alum.ring which you attach.using biner on the bridge for now.

I have the new butterfly and here is what I think, starting with the positives:

sweet quick release straps
super comfortable
nice and light
the bridge sucks!!!!! the shrink wrap holding the wear guard material in place over the webbing busted almost immediately and now gets jammed when I am pruning constantly.( not to mention not very safe like that!!!)
The ring on my bridge is too small so you cant flip biners around if you need to
no where near enough accessory loops!!!! (arrgh!!!!)
and last but not least....What the heck is the deal with the leg positioning straps????!!!!!! they are cheesy little elastic things that you have to knot in order to keep them in place.

I have always found the komet products to pinch more often than the glide.. almost went with sequoia, but decided to follow my last glide with the new glide. based on a more upright position, i find the glide to be the better in 6+hr days, even though butterfly seem more accessability friendly in reach..
just my two sense

I could not agree more! I love the saddle, but I have all the same gripes! I use a piece of Tachyon for a bridge, and I swapped out to a larger ring. I use the canvas loops where the bridge attaches for my lanyard attachment points, which are super comfortable! I also got the seat replacement, which actually makes it the Dragonfly. It is a good saddle with good weight distribution, but it does have issues, like anything else.

PS - To address the accessory loop issue, mix in a Caritool or two, they fit just fine!

If you like them so much you should of tried to get this one

Interesting, but the canvas that connects the bridge looks a little cheesy. I like the way it distributes weight, though. Which one is that, H? Is it a new model? BFIII?

Also, I stated my complaints along with the other poster. We aren't freakin' salesmen for them!

It's the Morpho by miller. Same guys that make the BF. I would think it will be at the TCIA show this year. It's been out overseas for awhile now.

I was told freeworker makes that saddle and only freeworker? I tried importing it, but we were told Komet/Miller/Sperian have nothing to do with it.....?
