Bucket truck hydro fluid

If I'm not sure the bucket truck my employer purchased had non conductive hydraulic fluid or not and I need to add some in the reservoir.
Do I need to drain it and add new fluid so it's all the same or is it not an issue to mix ATF Dexron 3 with whatever might be in there

It must be an old aerial lift of Ct. Sweet booms. If there is no record of maintance it wouod be worth while to drain the tank and change the hydro oil filter. The investment will increase longevity for the pto pump and give you some peace of mind knowinf whats in there. Booms that run hydro oil require dye so that leaks can be detected atf is bright red and cant be missed. Not sure how the dielectric oil works though or which manfactures require its use.

It is an AL of C boom. The old records are of replacements an inspections, not nothing about filter changes. I did read too that i should be annually draining and inspecting/ changing filter.
Thanks guys for your input.

Aeroshell fluid #4 (a shell product) is dialectric and dyed red...used primarily for planes and is all weather...used for teco/mti....bit pricey but but so is atf dexron 4...

Can someone explain to me how exactly the dielectric hydro fluid works. Also the houses are in an insulated boom as is the leveling cables that run the entire length of the boom (if im not mistaken). I thought the reason for the hydro- oil dye or the use of ATF was to be able to identify if there is a leak which could lead to oil coating the outside of the boom and dirt /dust / crud sticking to the boom making it conductive.

Leveling cables also have fiberglass insulators...and the orange hydro hoses are also non conductive...which is why a set for a new altec is about $3500...that help? Also...an oil leak is a cruddy mess...red or clear its oil.

Yup
I fly an ALC boom.
Uses ATF for oil. Was using it last Sunday and saw a ton of it all over the customers driveway. Squirrels must have chewed the lines inside the lower boom. What was supposed to be a quick half hour job turned into a whole day with cleaning up the mess and climbing the limb.
Dropped it off at the shop two days ago. Just waiting on the news.:aburrido:
