Breaking mini carabiners on footloop of SAKA mini?

Who recs straight up shit like that. Find a spreader dude.

Haha, man, I know, but its a confluence of factors. This is a "run whatcha brung" type of situation, swing; that's what's in the yard, so that's what I climb. Every last tree I have is an in-the-woods type xD. And, as you know, with young'ns, I try to harvest the time I have available, which means it's nice to be able to stay at my house to practice this stuff during nap time. Also, I actually like climbing straight up 90' or so!! Love the heights, and seeing the neighborhood. Another part of the purpose for me, besides debugging equipment and form, is conditioning and exercise; running up and down that 85' ascent 7-8 times in 45min absolutely spanks me.

But yeah, a giant pecan with a 80' spread would be nice :D

Man, where I'm from, 13s are relatively clown-sized feet. That's nuts that there are so many folks on here with big honkers like me!

Thanks for the feedback, seriously. I'd pay for critique like that, usually! I'll try to get another video which is both closer and from a better angle.

Your form looked good. Was that a hydration backpack? If so it is a heavy counter weight for staying upright. I understand that fitness is a component of why you are doing this but don't be afraid to slow down a bit. If you strive for smooth, speed will follow and bring less complications.

Yes - I LOVE THAT THING. I've not climbed without it in a few weeks, or maybe a month, b/c of the humidity and heat index here. It's regularly/usually 100degF+. Thanks for the heads up; I'm going to step on the line next time and see how it affects balance; never thought to compare!

I will try to smooth things out, tho. Is that rate that I'm going at in that clip too fast? That was my last climb, and by that point I was pretty tired, but also had the adjustments worked out on my knee ascender and tender such that there was no slack being introduced until the foot loop.

Man...that's savage. Is there a thread where you go into more detail?
No I don't think if have said anything more in detail about it but I have no problem with that if you want to pm or start a thread...
The accident happend before I came on treebuzz and boy I wish I was on here many year before it because this forum has changed almost everything about the way I do this work now and has made me so much smarter and safer.
I mean I didn't even make a post on here for at least a year or 2 after I signed up or else I probably would have shared my experience in vivid detail.
Since then I've requested that my wife and my brother share every detail about any further injury or fatality on here with you guys because over time I've made my wife understand why that is so important to do and I asked my brother to help because he is an arborist that got me into this and knows the trade better so he can help her give the most accurate explaination.

Man, towards your goal of disseminating information in hopes of educating/awakening others, I think making a thread would be a great idea! I can only speak for myself, although of course many others hold the same sentiment, but I appreciate detailed reports of incidents of any type.

As you have time, opportunity, and inclination, please do start a thread about what happened, with as much or as little detail as you wish to share or believe would be beneficial to others.

Thanks, @Mowerr.

Ok, this really surprised me. I just pryed the gate loose, which was really hard, as soon as it was clear of the spine it snapped closed again, the carabiner works just as before. I thought for sure the spring would've been broken. Now I love those biners even more, thanks @yoyoman.
