RD, if I remember right you are a youngster (teen?). So what works for us is probably not going to work for you. You will probably need to take some kind of power bar or something to eat during the day. With that said, here is what we eat which lasts us until we quit for the day. Remembering that we are in our 50s (aged to a fine maturity) and our bodies are processing differently.

We start out with a glass of Kombucha. David follows his with a bowl of drammitch (with raisins), 2 eggs and toast. I have just the egg and toast followed by a glass of fruit juice. And of course, coffee (black).

During the day we just make sure we have drinks (water, V-8).

Then I am really good at fixing quick dinners (but NO microwaving anything - don't even own one).

Ranger, get up earlier then you are now and there will be time to try any or all of the suggested meals. Protein and carbs are the starter food. then look to some fruits through the day for a boost. apples, bananas, oranges. All are easily obtained and relatively inexpensive. If you can, avoid coffee. While it helps give you a boost in the morning the caffeine can end up causing a physical addiction. Not a crackhead type but bad enough that you end up having to go through a withdrawal process.

I like lots of vegetables, lots of eggs, lots of butter, lots of cheese, bacon, or meat and some bread, rice, or potatoes. . It is hard to eat well for lunch, usually pb&j type of thing. so breakfast I go big. nothing worse than going to work hungry. almost worse than going to bed hungry.

I like grits and oatmeal too. Its a seasonal thing really. right now the garden is bangin, so lots of squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra etc. in the winter its more grits or oatmeal. lots of butter is key. bacon makes the world better.

dont use instant oatmeal or instant grits. There is more nutrition in the cardboard container than is in those little inta oat mix packages. total waste of time eating them.

donuts are bad for a work day. lots of sugar doesnt make the day go well for me. i feel slow and tired.

with the grits, Ill make a whole bunch and then for dinner, I'll fry the leftovers.

If im in a rush though, three fresh raw eggs, a cup of fresh goats milk, and a cracker. three minutes and Im good to go. the cracker is critical. the goats milk i usually have in my coffee.

yeah though ranger- you got to wake up a little earlier. I need at least an hour before work so I can feel ready.

in reality, there are way better choices for meat than bacon. bacon really leaves me messed up but I love it. i like donuts too. and chocolate.

Bullcaca. That affects a very small minority, luckily not me.

The only bad thing about drinking a cup o joe upon arising is that it will kill your appetite for a wholesome breakfast.
