Brand new STIHL MS 200T

I remember when you bought that saw after the Ohio Conference a few years back. I purchased one after you did, Scott found a few at a dealership. Good luck on the sale, I am curious as to what it brings, I still have my new one in the box at home.

And I say it again a fully modded 201t will out cut a screen pulled 200t all day everyday and has way more torque....no carb trouble and runs way cooler....hence will prob last longer though they have not been out very long to tell yet

This is the first time I've seen such a statement made; I'll have to look at your older posts.

This is the single biggest endorsement of the Stihl 201T I've ever seen.

I'm not enough of a chainsaw geek to know what is entailed in making a chainsaw "fully modded". I'm not trying to be argumentative when I ask my next question, just searching for truth, so please be patient with me.

When you compare saws, wouldn't it be more fair to compare saws to which the same changes have been made? As in, both saws have had their spark arrester screens removed, or both saws have been fully modded?

So if it were done that way, and you wanted to show off each saw at the absolute best it could be, it seems like running two fully modded saws against each other would be the best comparison possible.

So without making you jump through all of those hoops, but just giving me your gut feeling on the matter, do you think that a fully modded 201T would outperform a fully modded 200T?

Thanks for your time, Swingdude. Even if you don't have the time or inclination to respond to my question, I thank you for posting your strong favorable opinion already. Like I said, first time I'd heard this stated.

Tim....a 200t does not benefit from the same mods as a 201t earlier versions not the 201TC which I am told still runs better with the mods though it is quite fine without...there is so much potential in stratified saws ( emission controlled )....which allows advanced timing and muffler mods to really change performance....increases of 25% have been seen...when I get back to Barbados I will be doing another one as I have to buy new saws for my startup...I will document it all and post it up...

Thanks for all of that great information, swingdude; it is greatly appreciated.

Tim if you have a 201t....I can give you a step by step mod for it...it will instantly become a beast...very strong fast cutting saw....let me know
My name is Paul BTW...nice to meet you Tim....

Paul, it is a pleasure to meet you, too. Thanks so much for your kind and generous offer. I do not own the 201t chainsaw as of now. I guess I'm just trying to educate myself about the equipment people like and why, to inform my future purchase decisions.

I do not know if your modding procedure is something that you would care to share openly on the forum or not, but I feel absolutely certain that there would be many, many people that would love to learn of it.

If you did go to all of the trouble to write it up and post it in the open forum, I would read it for sure, and save it as a favorite place. I'd probably copy it into a file on my hard drive as a backup, also. I'd hate to make you go through all of that work just for my benefit, though, when I think there are tons of folks that would love to learn of it.

Thanks again, so much, for your time and attention.

Paul, I also have a early 201t that's just a dog. I am very interested in any kind of performance enhancer lol. I would really appreciate and tips. Very nice to meet you.
Thanks
Steve

Guys as soon at I get back to Barbados next week I will start getting a formula put up on here..these images were taken when I did my saw...the flywheel has a key that needs filing down by 1/3 at least so as to advance it CCW that amount...I filed 50%...and it worked a charm...use a small triangular file...slim down the key...looking at the flywheel from the front as it slides on file the right side of the key best done in a vice..nice even strokes till it's thinned by at least a 1/3....slide back on and spin it that much CCW and tighten...easy peasy...will do muffler mod next...

Muffler....drill a 5/16th hole at least....recommended size...I drilled a 1/2"....after you remove the nasty screen....then remove carb and use a drywall screw...to remove limiter...in the H...that will expose a 5/64th hex nut in plastic sleeve that is now your H adj screw...open that out...till saw 4 strokes then turn back in quarter turn...do this with a warmed up saw and in wood under load...small quarter turn increments....find saws sweet spot...IN WOOD...you will also have to do the L to get a crisp throttle and start every time ( smaller increments CCW )...shout me if you need more info...sorry Mark but info was needed here....
