bowline not as life support

I use a rewoven bowline as my rock climbing tie in.....there is no chance it can come undone. Basically a double bowline.

Do you mean like this? This is made starting with two loops forming the "rabbit hole", then two wraps around the "tree", with the first wrap around the tree above the second wrap, and then back down through the rabbit hole.

No-Knot Rigging System,
....damn if they didn't slam the bowline a few times in the video. ;). We need to start a bowline support group.
Ha! I didn't know there was a 'religious war' going on about the bowline. Brings back memories.

When I learned to rock climb back in 1977 my instructor would not let us even tie a bowline. He showed a few ways that it could come undone then told us to stay away from it as a tie-in knot. It was Satan I tell you! He then taught us the figure 8 follow through.

I use the bowline for rigging now, but still can remember Jim warning about that old demon bowline. If I tie in to a harness it is with the figure 8 with a stopper knot because it was what I learned.

I really enjoy your stuff, Yoyo.

I trip out on the bowlines reputation as I've been using it for 14 years,0 problems ever,I have also never backed it up in that time either. Life support, rigging, you bet,#1 knot, secure as all hell and easy to untie after loading. I guess as the rope technology advances,so do the knots weaknesses,or people aren't dressing and setting very well.

thanks for this thread. Now I have to see a therapist or possibly bowline rehab. I just hope I don't get attacked by whacked Skynet saw wielding drones on the way.
