I prefer leg straps. I get to climb on most of the saddles on the market, and my preference is the Butterfly II. Please note the big grain of salt, that my climbing is limited and always recreational (or product research, but that's not "real" work
).
I've got samples of the new buckingham saddles. The names keep changing, but there is the pro series IV saddle and the ArborLite (or stealth). I've not had a chance to try on the PS IV yet, but it looks like a a nice upgrade of the Master design, with padding galore.
I climbed in the ArborLite this weekend, which is essentially a lighter version of the PS IV. It hardly has any padding, does not have a waist belt (just the waist bridge), and has no buckles on the leg straps. The saddle fit well, and has plenty of attachment points. The only problem I had was with the leg straps, but that was my fault. After I put on the saddle, I didn't make sure the leg strap pads were under my legs. It wasn't until I was already 50ft up before I noticed that the padding was towards the outside of my legs, and my weight was being supported by the leg straps themselves without the wide padding. It was uncomfortable. Luckily, I was able to shift my weight around so I could adjust.
