Boots???

A good pair of tree boots I found are the Merrell Chameleon mid. Awesome for footlocking, sticky for limbwalking, and you can even wear hooks if you thread the back strap through the heel loop. Durability is satisfactory (about a year for me). A bit pricey, but you can find them for about 100 if you scourge the web.

Here's what I've been wearing for the past 2 years. The make 3 similar boots - but I always opt for the heavier (slightly) version each time. Each pair has lasted just over a year with pretty much daily wear and tear. What I like so much is they are warm enough in the winter (Michigan) and cool and dry in the summer.

Great grip for limb walking and good support for spurs. Great for footlocking too.

I rock out the STIHL lawngrips pro(hiking model), our local dealer loves us, and gave them to us at cost plus freight, so worked out to about 110$ Canadian. To date aside from my bulky Grizzly winter boots, they are my only comfortable climbing shoe, and are amazing for foot locking. Perfect Arborist budget boots.
Terrible for spurring when you have to do it though.

One of my Stihl dealers says that LawnGrip/Stihl boots are no longer available. LawnGrip (Manufacturer) went out of business a couple months ago.

Boston, those Makalu's will serve your feet well and for a long time. Might need a little break in time. I splurged for a pair of LHOTSE GTX's might as well put pine boards on your feet they are so stiff. They pop on to your feet they fit so snugly. It can take years just to break them in but then you're good as gold.

I'm liking the Scarpas too. How did you do that? Never mind, don't need to know. Sorry to derail, did Mayer get anymore pulleysavers? I've been waiting a month for a call on availability. Considering no one has them I figure it is the same story.

Cloth lace eyelets scare me some, but never had them. Maybe im being a worry ward?

The suede looking leathe rmakes me nervous too?

To be honest Asolo has scared me from all full line production boots! Cant believe how much of POS those boots are.

First day in Meindl Tree Climber boots I got off treebay here. Stiffer than what I'm used to. Real good for first 4 hours on spikes like any boot. I like em, good leather and construction.

Opps ! in Fairness ........... I called LawnGrips:

They are NOT going out of business.
Apparently, there is a supply dispute w/ Stihl.
I know nothing else.

Significant discounts are available (20-30%); just ask !
I got 30% for Women's Pro Sz 9.5 (I wanted a narrower width.)

I will try.

I tend to agree on the cloth laced eyes. but being they're high on the ladder, maybe they do not see the abuse the rest of them see. Debatable. Thanks for the update!

those Trango's are really nice looking. they seem popular with fellow buzzers too.

what is the average lifespan oujt of them? anyone ever resole a pair and see how far you can get these boots to go?

Lifespan really depends on use and user, but I have a pair that are five years old and still going. I've had some work done on them that extended their life...a reglue of sole.

Good boots are expensive but worth it.

im going on 2 years wit my trangos and that is the longest I have had a boot last me. still going strong. the red ones have the strongest (hottest) upper but its not crazy hot I am in Portland though

I have a pair of White Boots...they are great. You can't footlock with them, but they're so solid and heavy it feels like you're walking around with your own private concrete pad underneath your feet...kind of nice, really.
