Blair Ultra Light or Butterfly ll ??

I have been looking into a floating D saddle and have narrowed in down to these two. I know the BF ll carries a great reputation but I do not know much about the Blair. Comfort is definately top of the list. I like that the blair comes in four sizes especially XL as I am fairly big! Any input on the Blair would be appreciated. Thanks.....Jim

I think Tom D has used both and can give you the skinny...if he would stop galavanting all over the globe and huddle over his computer a bit more.

I found a post where he mentioned he went from the Blair to a Butterfly but it did not get into a comparison. I like the fact the Blair goes to an XL which may suite me better??

My Dad owns a Blair and hes had it for 15 years/ The only thing he's changed is the new backpad, fro mhis old one to the new one. I've tried it before and it's fairly comfortable, though Don Blair is hard to contact right now. My Dad tried him twice in a month and left messages and they still haven't gotten back to him. Hope this helps

I love the Treeflex but for myself I can't justify spending that money. I do not do this for a living so a couple trees a month is not much. If this was my living I wouldn't think twice on a Treeflex.

Ha! He plans to be on-line this evening Stumper : )

I've climbed on a Blair for years. I've briefly tried a friend's BF. I'm sticking with the Blair. There are definite advantages to the BF (replaceable bridge, light weight to name a couple) and I obviously can't say much about it from such a short trial.

I like the UL because it is completely modular. I can pull out the belt, toss the snap hooks, and put on as many rings as I want. I can add a ditty bag directly to the belt so I know where it is and which direction it's hanging. I can replace the separate leg straps with a bottom half that uses a different system or just replace worn-out straps with the same system. I like the large side 'D' rings for clipping in two lanyards at once (I use a double-ended) (I wouldn't mind if the two sliding 'D's were smaller, but ya can't have everything). All for something like $50 less than the BF.

I'll be tough to sway toward another saddle any time soon.

Thanks for the input. As far as price they seem to be the same. The Blair is actually a little more. I may go with the Blair as it looks better for me as I am not on the "THIN" side! I am 6'1" and 250lbs.
