Billing For Crane Rental

Yeah I'm kinda stuck. I may just have to do paper contracts and something to take payments. I'd really rather do everything electronically but it's gonna be double data entry. I like joist. It's free and nice. PayPal now, square, and qb have credit taking services. I just hate to drag a laptop around. Wish I could do it all on my iPad.

I drag a 12" iPad Pro around with me for estimates and invoicing. If you want to take a cc you will need some sort of device (you phone can work) anyhow. It does everything my cell does except make a call and it's on a mega screen.
If you think about it using paper is going to be double entry too. You will have to write the bill, then put the income into QB when you get back to the office. Even better is the guy that doesn't pay onsite, you will write the bill, input that he owes you money and finally mark as paid when he does. I don't think there is going to be much you can do to get around it. It's just going to be finding the balance that you are willing to accept. It is too bad that QB online can't get thinks straightened out so the accountants like it.

Im confused by this whole thing. Fire your accountant....QB online is fine. What do you need to write for an estimate anyways? Your billing by the hour. So, you tell them you charge 150 an hour port to port. Have your terms and conditions sent to them via email. They can reply back...that is as good as a signature now a days. All you need is them agreeing on your terms.
I do a ton of crane service and its all over the phone. Guy calls....."How much for the crane for a day?" 150 and hour with a 4 hour minimum! "Great!, I need the crane on Tuesday"......We show up, do the work and then send them an invoice though QB online.....Simple and easy

I get it Royce. I don't wanna fire my accountant. I like him. I don't need estimates. What I do need is a contract with terms signed per the insurance company. They want a hard signature with the hold harmless agreement and so on. They are fine with an electronic signature but they want me covered. I don't need to do estimates. You are absolutely correct. I also know who I'm gonna be working with. I need to grab that payment because it was bad enough trying to get a days pay from some of these guys no less a days worth of crane rental.

If it's the same bunch then get paid up front! :envidioso

But seriously, COD, have them pay you on completion. Until you're dealing with people you know pay on time then don't give them any room to slide.

I use Quick Books, and bill on site. I can swipe a credit card or they can pay online with a credit card or direct bank transfer. QB is the shit. I don't even accept checks anymore.
