BII Bridge construction

So one of my coworkers asked me today (jokingly) if i trust the bridge on my BII saddle...I guess it looks small and weak to him. I laughed and said "yeah, I better trust it". Then i got to looking at it and started to wonder about its construction. My question is, is the outer most piece of material just a sleave stitched in to place at both eyes? Or is it an integral part of the whole bridge assembly? In the photo i have circled the stitch areas at either eye which would suggest to me that the outer most piece is a sleeve to handle the abrasion of the ring or any other item rubbing it? Am I correct in this asumption?

i climbed with the b2 for a year and i never worried about what i was hanging from and never had any problems with the brige but i did consider switching over to the rope bridge that the glide has to offer, i think you can just un screw the clevis and throw the rope bridge right in there, i now climb with a tree motion and i love the rope, its just a better, smoother roll for biners and pullys alike
