Bid that tree!

I've heard from an adjuster that they want the customer taken care of, And make sure the invoice says $500 for disposal, with the other side more open-ended.

Rotten pine removal ~24" 70', house side has a long old rotten crack but tree is in decent shape to climb/rig. The tape measure is laid out 8', septic line/tank/cleanout in the way so machine access is debatable with matting on the edge by stairs. Water side has a shear cliff and no trees 180 deg away for rigging use. IMG_1118.webpIMG_1091.webpIMG_1105.webpIMG_1102.webpIMG_1103.webpIMG_1104.webp

What are the dimensions and job specs for processing/ hauling/ disposal?

Skidding or carrying material?

Is it a speedline or straight down rigging scene?

Acceptable ground impact?

sounds suspiciously like a hand carry situation. Dibs on climbing
$2400/3600?
Have you sent a proposal already?

All hauled
Skidding or carrying material?
Heck no are we carrying by hand or cart!

Is it a speedline or straight down rigging
Tree is leaning towards house over the deck and no trees 180 to rig off, so speedline options are not great but possible.

Acceptable ground impact?
Good question, given the lack of access I said to expect some damage
Is there a way to land the material, set a redirect and yard brush up the slope on the side of the path?
that's my plan, the right angle 140' dotted line I marked has a spruce to redirect off.

I did yep, and we have stopped accepting hand carry projects of any trunk/substantial volume. One payday followed by days out with back pain I've learned too often. Fool me once shame on you, fool me ahh ya can't get fooled again...

I’d probably figure x2 days one for the brush and the top 1/3 or whatever is chip able. A short day for the wood, winching it up and machine loading.
Take the rest of the day off recovering.
So $3600ish
If the winch is on a chipper maybe try to hump it all up and chip brush on day one, stage wood and come back later for the wood.

Spider crane in the driveway fairly close to the septic covers. Outriggers full square, foot under the porch if need be. LZ in front of the house if feasible or on ground protection mats. 3 Hands. Crane. Chipper. Log truck later. $2,750 ~ $3,250

Oops. “There may be new posts in this thread”.

Climbing and no assistance from any machinery would definitely be a much different scenario.

Still 3 hands. Rent a gas winch for the day? Gonna go with $3,500.

I'm guessing it would need to be limbed up in order to do that so probably more. How much does it cost to get there? What are the risks? Lots to factor in. If it could be felled as a single tree over the cliff with some great wedge action or creating pulling, yeah $450. Tie a huge rock to some Manila rope that's tied to the top and throw the rock over the cliff to pull it in that direction and then fell it. Now THAT would be fun!

I was just looking at a job yesterday, tall fir snag between the house and shoreline, one of my ideas was have a boat on the pull-line... never done it but heard of others doing it. The real question is how to handle cleanup after that, especially with saltwater and sand.

Is it a big no-no around your islands to tie rocks to a log(tree) and just sink it, providing your in deep enough water to avoid contacting the bottom of watercraft?
