BF II shackle...

I work in the aviation maintenance field, any thing that could possibly come loose is safety-wired (lock wired) to prevent from doing so. I am planing to install a bridge on my saddle and planned to safety wire the pins. I do not like the no-snag pins because there is no place to attach the safety wire. You could stake the pin. Staking is another acceptable means of preventing movement. Staking is when the fastener is tight you take a sharp center punch and make several indents into the outer edges and end of the fastener. Effectively expanding the diameter of the fastener. Makes it had to remove, but that the point.

The twisted clevis on my lanyard adjuster has that tight locking fit (not sure what that type of locking is called) and then I tie the pin with polyester cord- it's tough, won't fatigue, and is easy to visually check, and the arrangement has been problem free.
