Best setup for Spiderjack not using spliced eye

Not yet man.
I have been so tempted to cut the splice off but I have a strong feeling the splice is what makes it so nice to use.
Sans bulky knot is the best. imo

I don't think it would interfere much if you used the tether setup and a tidy termination knot like an anchor hitch or double fisherman.

You could probably use an anchor bend on a hms krab, maybe. trying to think of knots with a low profile as not to interfere with the operation of the jack.

I only have one rope without a splice and use it for removals. bowline with yosemite works well because the knot can be set a little higher up and out of hands way. splices are the bees knees with it though, so nice.

I also got 3 kong corner traps from Treestuff. The spiderjack came from Honey Bros, 2 days shipping from UK, amazing UPS. I have a brand new rope Imori and a new fiction device adjustable Sterling. Going with the toys this year and can't wait.

would be great to get progress reports and compare notes.
My new Amori should be here today and I am dying to try it out SRT with hitch and rope wrench as well as DRT with the Spiderjack2.
I'm usually on poison ivy but was interested to try the Imori for the slightly larger size but mostly because I have heard good things about its 'hand'

Sorry I can't give you any input on what knot would work good because every rope I own has a spliced eye.

hope you got the SJ2.1 without the velcro and the new aluminum guide and loop runner. if you did then I would say go with a doule fishermans knot since the tail exits in line with the working part of the rope and that would make it streamlined. on the other hand its hard to untie and I cant think of a knot that passes through a friction device other than 'Old Farts' Pulleysaver. forget a ring and ring or an ART and so on. Get an eye spliced while it is still brand new and enjoy many more possibilities.

Scrat

I can't find any specific language in the user's manual that requires the use of a spliced termination. However, I imagine that the device is intended to be used with a spliced rope only.

Perhaps one could email Hubert or the ART website and get an answer? Joe Harris would be another great person to ask.

Thanks a bunch for the great info. really regret not get the eye on the imori. Everything I can think of to use just adds more bulk or more weight in the equation. Might just have to buy a rope just for the spiderjack. Don't know how to splice , maybe it's about time I learned how.

Can the spiderjack be installed on a line with both ends spliced? I believe I am getting the newer version without the velco Scrat. Pretty sure with the tether set up. What is the norm just to leave it on the rope and adjust when getting into the tree?

Ricky, the sj has to be threaded on the line so you can't have both ends spliced. I got mine a few days after I put a second tight eye on my velocity. Oops.

Todd, I got some imori about 2 weeks ago. You will be pleased.

technically, you could take the jack apart (like for clutch replacement) and install on a line with both ends spliced. Then of course, you would have to take apart to take off...probably more hassle than its worth.

I like the imori so far a lot. I don't have a lot of time on it though. If you like PI/Bluemoon it's worth considering.

I also really like it with tachyon and velocity.

Ian, check out Bill_N's post in this thread before you bite on some vortex. I double checked with him that it didn't work well with the SJ and he confirmed it. Just a little too thick.

Its from an old GM manual. Primitive Pete.
Book rescue from the recycle center shredder.

Next avatar made me laugh somethin fierce. Crispy Chicken on Coronation in the Bridge/Preston has it on the wall behind the counter.

Hey BTW I have been turning down work in the Hammer east and south side - care to meet and discuss? Potential work.

If I were going to use a Spiderjack without a spliced eye I would set it up with the new modifications. What I did instead of buying that new aluminum piece that holds the short webbing sling is just sewed the Velcro piece closed around a short stiched webbing sling (quickdraw).
