Sometimes if the taper is not perfect it can create a weak spot at the end of the taper. So, it is not unusual for a splice to break at that point. Brocky is right on in that regard.Fair point. I think I asked on your YouTube video comments but then after watching a few other clips of testing it mostly seemed straight pull so went for that. They did say they could test basket but not sure how you'd determine the size of bollard used to create a 'correct' bend radius?
Would you care to comment on how my (well used) cord failed at the end of the bury? Part of me is reassured by the fact the splice didnt fail, although I'm not sure if the taper/bury made the rope fail prematurely? Or if it was purely fatigue. The outer cover wasn't badly worn, this stuff is just so tough, but it was old and had lost its flexibility.
