Become a paid SRT Workshop Instructor

Hopefully, this doesn't come off like an infomercial.

TCIA is creating a list of CTSP’s who are interested in teaching SRT climbing techniques in the 2014 workshop season. Pre-requisites: must be a CTSP in good standing, must have a certificate for the Tree Climber Specialist module of the Tree Care Academy, and be an experienced SRT production climber.

Workshops in 2014 are expected to take place in North Carolina, Chicago, New England, Pennsylvania, and Northern California. Additional locations may be added, depending upon demand.

Selected candidates will receive an instructor honorarium, as well as travel and lodging for specific workshop sites.

To inquire about placement on the list contact Tchukki Andersen by e-mail tandersen@tcia.org . Not all qualified candidates will be selected (limited workshops). For information on the CTSP program, contact Irina Kochurov IKochurov@tcia.org .

What is this?

Thanks for posting, this sounds like a great opportunity/program.

Go to the TCIA website and you can see all their modules and while there you might also think about joining, if you or your company aren't members yet. It's a great organization and wonderful people who really care about what we do out in the field (as well as the office).

We're really looking forward to get the training modules completed and the SRT Instructors Certified and teaching the curriculum.

Hey folks,
I just wanted to put in my 2 Lincolns. I have had the pleasure of working and/or climbing with most of the folks that will be candidates for instructors and they are all top notch people in my book. I am privileged to be part of their instructor fraternity.

Donny, we can all say the same about you too my friend!

Hmmm, I'd send one in if it weren't for the CTSP requirement. Seems strange to me as all the CTSPs I know are managers.

Sounds like a good program though, and glad to see some heavy hitters involved. I really am loving the work TCIA is doing to legitimize and set standards for SRT in the workplace. It's really refreshing to see an org taking this head on and being proactive rather than dodging the issue.

Climb on!

Not to sound like an infomercial myself, but the ctsp cert has been a real game changer for me personally. Made me think about the way I operate on a daily basis, as well as where I want my career to go. I met a lot of great people thru the program as well.

That's a great endorsement, macswan, thanks. I'm glad the program is working out for you.

While it is true that many CTSP's are management level, there are many, many CTSP's who are day-to-day production workers and in-field trainers. The response we've received so far of CTSP's interested in becoming an SRT Workshop Candidate has been very good, and most are CTSP's and/or qualified trainers.

Whoever attends these upcoming SRT Workshops is going to get top-of-the-line training, without a doubt.
