Curiosity question .... Why?
I have a huge 99 levco stump grinder that im tired of grinding with so im thinking about taking the john deere 4045t engine out and putting it in a 18" chipper. I have a 2015 bandit 90xp with a 50hp cat diesel in it but id like a larger unit to process certain jobs faster.

Landmark machinery has a salvage yard. Trevor from there is on the buzz somewhere. Good luck with that Vermeer.
Lol i know im not a huge fan of vermeers either they like to crack drums. I personally own a bandit chipper but i have used quite a few of the 1800s and theyre not the best unit out there but they will get the job done and with the john deere 4045t engine i have for it it will be reliable but a touch under powered. That engine came in the 1800s for a while actually...i personally think 115hp turbo diesel is not enough engine for a 18inch chipper but it'll get shit done for a while anyways. I will look into the company you posted thank you

I saw that guy back on Craigslist! That's a nice grinder for a tow behind. You the same guy who had it a few years ago or did you buy it and replace the head bearings? I was worried it'd need a new shaft when I looked at it.

I am not the same guy. Yea i put 4 out of the 6 new bearings in it and new tires and a new front shaft and i had the head static balanced and some new hydraulic rams and lots of other stuff. Its a killer fast grinder but i really like my smaller unit just because of accessibility. We went thru that grinder with a fine tooth comb and also had about $1500 of random welding and fabricating..shit im in it more than 12000 now but i picked it up for 5000.

Typically the 15'' chippers are fitted with 140hp engines. An 18 would be way under powered. You may be better selling the grinder whole as is, and use those funds to help with a chipper purchase.

I have run older 18" chippers with 110 hp engines. You're not going to stuff it full of big wood with a loader, but it will eat a large diet of brush pretty well. You've got the hp of a 12" or 15" machine, but the large drum and infeed of an 18" machine. I was skeptical at first, but they worked better than I anticipated.

Yea like i said ive used quite a few with this exact setup with auto feed. It will take 18inch logs buy only process about a 1-2" at a time haha. But yes under powered but lile i said it will work for a while until i can afford my bandit 1890xp

Yeah should be a good grinder now! Accessibility is why I didn't pull the trigger on the thing back then, came really close tho.

Yeah I saw it. I think I'm going to be in the market for an RG50 or comparable pretty soon.
Yea the rg's are nice for sure! Id love to get a carlton 7015 on tracks with a remote but i dont have $50,000 right now haha...have to stick with my little vermeer 362 for now
