Battery Powered Pruners

Does anyone have them or any experience with them? Any brands or models they would prefer?

We are currently on our annual two week project of pollarding an allee of linden trees. They have been done for years (50+) by hand (hand pruners, ARS pole pruners, pole clips). I've been trying to look into battery powered pruners and finally got our hands on some Felco 800's. We will be trying them out tomorrow. I've heard of one or two other brands out there but can't recall the name nor how they performed. Curious to see if anyone has had any experience with them. I know their expensive but I would love to save some of our wrists.

Any input or knowledge you guys have would be greatly appreciated!

Well I can at least give an update if anyones interested...

Well some of the crew has used the Felcos and like them so far. Was given to us with a pretty ugly blade, was only able to sharpen it so much but I think a new one will do wonders. Heres the Felcos we're using now:

Also looking to demo another brand called Electrocoup by Infaco. They look promising too and I think a little cheaper. This is them:

See what happens! Would appreciate any info anyone has though!

Thanks,
Tyler

I've seen air powered pruners, both hand And pole varieties. You could use scuba tanks or nitrogen in lieu of a noisy compressor

Find orchard pruning vendors, Bishop might be a good start

Tom, I've thought about air powered but I think they would be too bulky to climb with. The Felco battery packs are almost too much to fit between pollard heads or tight crotches. I borrowed the Felcos from a Vineyard and they're also setting me up with their supplier for the other brand.

Jack, that looks really cool! I'd be curious to see how long a battery charge lasts, probably not too long?

Mario, it seems as though Felco and Infaco market towards Vineyards.

Thanks for the input. I attached a picture of what the trees look like.

Thanks,
Tyler

I've got a few Nextec tools and am impressed by how long the batteries last. They're small & recharge quickly. That pruner is newly released. I put the link up, hoping someone might have tried it and be able to review it.
