bar oil on rope

Had an accident and soaked a good bit of my line with bar oil. really sucks. washed it a couple of times and its still there. My whole line is oily. Anyone have any advice on how to get it out? Or am i gonna have to deal with a greasy line for ever..

Try Fast Orange or Dawn dish soap. Laundry soap may not have the grease cutters that you need.

Would that much oil ruin the integrity of the rope? I'm sure that gas would. Any input on that?

Would fast orange get pine sap off of a lanyard? I sometimes just rub dirt on it, but i have one just for pine.

Rope strength is not effected by gas or oil. Go to any rope makers page, they'll tell you that.

At a conference once I was told gas and oil dont affect rope aside from smell, but the worse thing for rope is animal piss. So keep your neighbors dog away.
