Bandit GM Gas Motor - Need Latest Reviews Please

@simplyarbor my complaint is the 4 hrs it took to get ahold of someone to say “we have been having all kinds of problems with that”. If so put a frigging notice out so we can do the maintenance. NOWHERE in PSI’s manual does it say change this part every 400 hrs (not to mention I was only around 370). They do want to warranty the distributor (not cap or rotor) but their mistake costs me an entire day with the chipper for a 45 min fix (plus the half day I was already down). That’s if I can get the salesman to tow it to the shop and back for me otherwise it’s gonna be probably 2 days. Because “road service” isn’t covered! I wonder if they realize what time of year it is for us right now???

Napa Cap - RR253
Napa rotor - RR256

These are the better quality numbers, so it’s a couple more dollars. It’s from a 2004 Chevy Blazer (that’s what bandit told me to ask for). When speaking with the tech he mentioned spraying WD-40 under the cap as a moisture repellent/lubricant. I prefer dielectric grease, less viscous and little less flammable probably.

Hello we have a 1390xp with the 4.3l gas engine with about 2200hrs on it. Well so far it's been pretty good running machine the problems we have had are fuel pump went bad not to pricey, the distributor kept burning up caps so they replaced it with a new one pretty sure that was a recall, and the worst thing I have been dealing with is CLUTCH PLATES AND PTO SHAFTS. So let me explain what happening is the pto shafts when brand new do not fit right in the centers of the clutch plates ( there is a little wiggle room left and right and forward and back) with having the movement after I hit 1000hrs it went bad. Replaced everything and another 1000hrs it went bad again! I'm currently talking with Psi engines and auto manufacturing ( they make the pto and clutch) so I will update when resolved. Hope this helps

Those are vortec style distributors those caps all suck! My dad has a 5.0L vortec in a cargo van which doesn't see all that many miles and hes lucky to get 8 months out of a cap. We have tried just about every brand including msd (which had the shortest life) no matter the material used country of origin nothing lasts! Buy an extra and keep it on hand preferably one with a lifetime warranty and just keep returning it.

It seems the dealers answer to every motor issues gets blamed on the cap and rotor now. We had a forced shut down problem a couple weeks ago and when I called in the service manager asked when was the last time you changed the rotor. I had to get firm with him and explain that the machine runs fine (not skipping) it just shuts off after 10 min.
I would highly recommend anyone that has an issue with one of these PSI engines to call PSI directly. They are extremely knowledgeable, nice and give you real answers to the issues you face. Our forced shut down was solved easily by the PSI tech telling us how to read the code (without a computer), sending us the 370+ page service manual and giving us a part number. They also sold us the leads and software to hook it up to a lap top to talk to the computer.
Our forced shut down wound up being a two stage overheat problem. The thermostat stuck closed not allowing coolant into the radiator to cool off. Replaced it and it’s been good as gold. We could have changed it on the job if we had ha couple simple tools and the knowledge to read the codes. It was easy to diagnose once we knew what to focus on.
