Backing up petzl ascender

Question for Mark C.(or someone) Could you tell me the model number/rating for that hexaratchet. I've been meaning to try one fo rages. My local chandler doesn't stock them in that size but can order me whatever I want, I just haven't had time to go through the catalogue and figure out which one to get...

Cheers, Rupe.

Well that stinks. Just for future reference, I would go directly to the Special Advisor and get his/her approval.
Too many 'experts' think they know what they're talking about.

Rupe,
The hexaratchet pulley is a Harken boat pulley. I ordered one not long ago from West Marina. The one I have is the 8:1 pulley. The safe working load is 1200 lbs. I'll have to dig it out of the truck tonight to let you know what model it is exactly.

Rupe,
The one I use has the magical number of 5000# MBS. I would rather use a smaller one, but it works alright.

FWIW, I didn't use the ratchet for that climb. It's just as easy to set it up with a small CMI or such. They just don't swivel at all.

That gets attached to your harness via a prussik and biner. Mark as per photo attached has an adjusting setup. I prefer a fixed setup.

Not sure I understand the red line. If it is secured to the saddle wouldn't you be limited in how far away from the pulley you would get?

I believe he only connects the red rope when ascending to give him a fixed distance from the ascender to his saddle.

This set up looks like a major advancement combining the best of SRT, DbRT, easy rescue and crotch protection while using a minimum of gear.
