Hi all,

Can this device, when used on a long lanyard, be used to descend? I am wondering if it ‘jerks’ when under tension?

Excellent point. The scenario I am thinking of is using a 15ft lanyard, as a secondary point of connection, in a moving rope configuration (rope goes around an anchor point) and end terminated in a D ring / bridge.

Essentially, replacing the prussik loop on my secondary line.

Yes you can descend on it, fully weighted in a moving rope system. Although the release might feel "jerky" at first it is very smooth after you get used to it. I felt comfortable on it after the first climb, a very short transition from hitches.

It is rated to hold your position in stationary, but will not descend.
