Anything wrong with owning more than one rope??

Re: Anything wrong with owning more than one rope?

"Old school ruled: Knotted directly to a snap and tied a taughtline with the tail. After a few months we would get a brand new stiff splintery rope. Two to three climblines a year on average. There was nothing better, it was state of the art.

Today I have bags and bags of rope that I will never live long enough to use. Hell, a new sythetic climbline today can last a climber years of rugged use. And it's all good. "

THAT IS GOSPEL!

yea,my second wifes first husband stopped by to get some of his stuff one day and found one of my ropes tied to the bedposts.would have loved to see the look on his face, not just hear about it,lol. extra ropes are great.

along the memory lane...

the only thing miss about the three strand synthetic is it's spur-survival. More than once I have stomped through a rope with only a handful of climbs on it during a removal while wearing spurs. Quite a few times, I remember looking down and seeing the gaff had slipped between the strands on the three strand, leaving no cut or abrasion at all...

I remember thinking arbor-plex was so great when they first brought it out on the crews, now you couldn't pay me to use it...

theres a lot of sexy ropes out there, but I have always been pleased with the performance, life, and price of True-Blue, Safety Blue, and Hi-Vee safety Blue.

I have sprung for the Yellow-Jacket a couple times, though, just 'cause it looks cool.

I would consider"Poison Hi-Vy" or "Safety Blue" if there is not going to be an eye splice on it.Otherwise I like a lot having an eye splice at each end of my climbing line"Tachyon".
