I just started going to the gym for the first time in my life at 40 something years old. Couldn't tell ya if it helps with work since I don't do much now that I got a union job doing tree work. Oh yeah, that's why I started going to the gym.

Hey Mark...That about that tattoo now??????? (look back a number of posts)

Goin back to martial arts, I practiced Tae kwon Do from age 8 to 25. Was highly involved in competition. Was ranked third in the nation for some time in the fly weight division. tried out for 92' and 96' olympics, but lost in quarterfinals. Tae kwon do has helped me tremendously in tree climbing as far as flexibility, and most of all, my work ethic. I would highly recommend any form of martial arts to tree workers. Tried to make a come-back a few years ago, but tore a meniscus in my right knee. Had to choose between work and comp. So I hung up my hogu for spurs.

Got a membership at my local indoor climbing gym. Feels good to be back in (rock) climbing shape again. Some of these young kids are pulling hard! Freaks of nature. Scary to think what they could do in a tree.

hey for what its worth I agree with the martial arts thig . Yoga is good to o .Any thing that combines strenght , coordinated movement and flexiblity will translate well into tree work

Get up before work and run or swim for an hour. Run any where between 20-60 kilometers on Sundays. I run ultra marathons so have to stay in shape for that. Also at night push ups, sit ups, and pull ups.
