Any Pittsburgh climbers ?

No bells going off, give me a clue
Harry had a tree service out of the Mars area and was well known around the Pgh area. He was a great mentor and friend and was the main force behind the Penn-Del ISA western TCC. He passed about 10 or 12 years ago. Did a lot of work in the Oakmont and Fox Chapel area. Thought you may have known him is all.

Just got back from climbing with Bill again today. So much better than my first try last week. And I have to give a big thanks to Bill for sending me home with all the gear I need to practice some SRT at home. Not many people would let someone they just met take home $500 worth of their personal gear and rope. Great guy and a great teacher

Perhaps some day, down the road a number of years, a young person wanting to get into climbing will end up at your house looking for a helping hand with the nuances of climbing. Because people like Bill have influenced you, I think that will carry forward, and that young person will be saying the same things about you. The days of mentoring and helping the next generation find a path in life that they will find fullfilling are not over, it just takes people who are willing to go out of their way once in awhile and keep it alive. I'm always happy to see someone get the boost, a little shot in the arm, to keep them interested in something they think they'll enjoy doing.

...a lot of money!

So true. I figure, I've spent piles of money on lots of stupid things that gave little or no real returns, at least with the climbing gear your next of kin will make a few bucks at a garage sale an hour after the funeral. Or, maybe I'll find a couple of new climbers when I'm 99 years old (when I plan to quit doing it) and just gear them up before they ship me off to the old fart home.
