Advertising in the fall?

Have any of you advertised in the fall? If you have what kind of results have you seen? Work is terribly slow for me now, willing to give it a shot, but I would like to hear from folks that have done it in the past. Thanks!

I believe when it comes to fall and winter work it is all about educating your customers/potential customers. If your focus is pruning you should find ways to advertise that let people know the benefits of pruning when trees are dormant. If your focus is removals you can find ways to advertise that explain things like less yard damage due to frozen grounds. Or less leaves=less time raking/onside=less $. Personally I push work larger pruning jobs into winter throughout the summer so I have some work lined up.

We start following up with unsold estimates this time of year followed by an email blast for dormant pruning. We also sell dormant pruning to folks who really care about their trees and don't mind waiting or trees that are stressed from defoliation etc. There's also the occasional job that is easier to access in winter. Why rig a tree down when you can flop it on the ice. Or pull that downed willow out of the swamp when the ground is frozen.
