Adjustable harness bridge

I am trying something on a different vein. I took a Gibbs unit and put a 6' piece of Blue Streak with an eye splice on each end in it. The Gibbs goes on the ring on the rope bridge via a 'biner and the other end goes on the 'biner on the Hitch Climber. In this gizmo/way you can pay out up to 6' of extension while never having to unclip a 'biner. It only adds about 6" to the distance of your hitch from the rope bridge. Installs quick too!

Could you put the Gibbs directly onto the bridge without the connector? I'd probably use a screwlink/shackle for a connector to make the whole works a little shorter and more compact.

Tom, I thought about putting the gibbs dirctly on the bridge. But as you know the work dictates the gear so I may not be using it in a straight up removal (spruce tree for example). I have been thinking on this for a while now and think this may be a good solution for me. I will post some pics once I get some time using it!

Hey Tom. Pretty cool idea on the adjustable bridge. I do have a couple of questions though. Have you tried attaching the Uni directly to the bridge? It would still be fair and actually have a larger support radius on the bridge line.

Speaking of which, did you notice the nick on your bridge (picture 4)???

Also, I have gone back to using my Uni as my top ascender and leaving the croll as my chest ascender. I have done this because I found the croll stays tighter to my body which makes maintaining the upright position far easier. But even when I did use the Uni down low, I had it connected to the SRT points not the bridge for the reason that it wanted to pivot me away from vertical.

Is this not a problem with your setting?

Dave

During a trip down the rabbit hole I came across this thread.

@DSMc asked a couple of questions that I didn’t answer

First, the pic in the rope was only one or two strands of KMIII sheath. The bridge was replaced

Second, I started running the Uni directly on my bridge. One less piece of gear and it shortened my setup. More compact and simple

It’s been interesting to see wear adjustable bridges have gone since this thread was started years ago
