A Master Mod

I was just looking at the masters and thought to myself why couldn't you just clip and small rope bridge to the to end loops and boom you have a floating bridge. So, in real life would this work out and what type of rope/bridge would I use, because we don't splice ropes here. Thanks and let me have some feedback, postive or negative.

I did that with a Master Classic; just a piece of 11mm kernmantle with double fish knots on each end... worked OK. Doesn't touch the same configuration on a BFII though.

The Master is a good saddle, but the Butterfly II is a great saddle.

Also, what would be the best rope to make a rope bridge out of. I was thinkinh 11mm stuff, like the Blaze, Fly, etc. I don't want anything bigger than 1/2in though, as I would like to use pulleys with it. Thanks

Right now I'm using some PMI static rope I bought by the foot at REI... thinking about trying out some pieces of velocity and PI I have lying around.

For the Master you'll probably want a fairly supple rope since it's running through webbing instead shackles.

One last thing, test whatever way you secure the ends VERY thoroughly. Don't use an anchor hitch, I had one nearly untie on me once... about 60' up. Double Fisherman/Scaffold knots are a lot more secure.

Good luck.

Ok, thanks. I'm trying to find one that might work for the BFII. I think I have my saddle choices narrowed down to the BF2 and a Blair Ultra Light, maybe the masters, but probaly not. Thanks for the input.

It works very well. The amount of rotation is less than some other saddles that were designed with a bridge but it allows mre movement that the fixed attachments. For me it is a good compromise.

I used delta quick links and a double fishermans. I works good. I leard on a single D slide bridge so I wanted that but liked the master. After a couple months I find I am using the con. points on the saddle more.
