A buddy\'s first tree climb- he loved it!!!

This is Lance; he's traveling the nation and came back to Chattanooga for a few days and came to see me. In addition to climbing a tree for the first time, he and a local, mutual buddy of ours, built a wheelchair ramp on our front porch!

Anyway, he was a quick learner - he said he had a good teacher - shucks

I guess if he thinks so.

Wow, Jesse, thanks! That means a lot coming from such a distinguished and accomplished climber and arborist.

Nice! He did good! Did he go back up and try it again? Hope he did. You could tell he was into it!

He wanted to go back up; he just didn't have time for another climb.

It's difficult to hear but after he saw me descend, he said, "Hey, you didn't tell me I could do that...", I think you can hear that part, but then he continued, "...Now we have to set it all back up so I can do that."

Ya, I herd it, that is why I asked if he got a chance to do it again. He was looking up in amazement. He was into it, he will stop by on his next trip for sure. He reminds me of a guy Yippie, a chainsaw carver from my local area.

Yeah, he was into it - no doubt.

I intentionally didn't mention the faster rappel, because I was afraid he'd try it. If you don't push out squarely, you'll twist and slam back into the tree without the benefit of your legs to catch you.
