I wondered…there are some nice, small, swivels used for fishing that might solve line twisting

Yes those swivels do help. Especially when you use a magnet the way Richard taught us. I wish their rings would be a little bigger

So if you are shooting out of a cannon, green side down? String tied to the top orange string? So it's gotta flip at some point, right? If that is the goal, then rifling would be counter-productive.
The Carrot is just for hand throwing. It had not breen designed for the launcher. I already have purpose made weights for the launcher.

How tight a seal is needed between the banana and barrel? Molding in a raised circumferential seal or a groove to hold an o ring could work

Maybe the better seal is more work than necessary
One of My small launcher weighs for the inch tube has a fishing snap swivel attached to the tie in. My only concern is it coming unsnapped in the tree.

THe ones I have were found at a store that sold to people that were fishing for bigger fish from off-shore boats as well as basket traps.
That's definitly another scale. Where I leave the fishermen/women fish in ponds or rivers... No chance for them to catch a big beast :)

.8mm braided dyneema. Fishing line dark green
It worked but would cut into bark and tangle terrible and get tired and break. Definitely paid for itself but 1.2 is the smallest I go for last few yrs

I have also tried small dyneema fishing line and found that it's small size increased the difficulty in determining the exact route it had taken. That is too critical for safety to set aside for the negligible gains in height.

Maybe I’m on the outside here however i think throwing line in overpriced. That’s what precipitated my question as I’d like to find an alternative to spending that much money.

Throw line is expensive for sure, but I believe that is from the small market base that it covers. It does, however, last a long time in the field and is specifically designed for the task.

I heard of it being used before on home made units. It’s just a personal preference of mine to keep the weight integrated. I Don’t want to be throwing a wad of cloth up into the tree. Or for that matter chase after it where ever the wind decides to blow it to.
Have you tried shooting a wadded up rag out of your launcher? That was the first thing I did with mine. A bit of rag really doesn’t go far at all. I haven’t experimented with it yet, but I made a 2” barrel for my launcher just so I could experiment with using a rag as wadding so the bag isn’t riding directly against the inside of the barrel

Since I make my own weights with a 3-D printer I have an accuracy of 0.4 mm. Less if a 0.1 nozzle is used. So I haven’t needed wadding. The fit is tight enough that I actually have to use a tamping rod to push the weight to the bottom of the tube. When I initially made my first shot it was with a commercial throw bag at 16 ounces. It was a very tight fit so I could forgo the wadding.
