Hmmm, I don't know if I would consider myself an "advanced" tree climber. I have never summitted a Redwood but I do have a few years experience with rope/gear handling and I have seen the top of multiple trees in Minnesota. I assume the focus will be on work related topics and not recreation?

You are very much welcome to attend!

Work related, but certainly applicable to recreational climbing. We just wanted to make it clear that this is not an introductory or beginner workshop.

I am going to send them an email and see if I would be able to pay and register at the location that morning. I also need to see if we will use lines that are set up for the group or if we will be setting up our own personal ropes too. I do not feel like showing off my lack of throwing skills and I am guessing that my 100' rope would be too short to use for all of the learned skills.

I'll pencil you in for registration and you can pay on site. If you don't show up, no worries. Just try to give me a heads up either way.

You don't have to throw or do anything else you may feel uncomfortable with. Certainly bring your harness (with a positioning lanyard), helmet, and glasses. Also, anything else you want to use or practice with. We will have a handful of ropes and systems available to use and try out. One large tree and a few smaller trees to climb in... so, something for everyone.

Cool! Hope to see you there on Friday.

Aha! You have answered the questions that I didn't know to ask. My initial worry was that my climbing system is so different from you guys who are lucky enough to climb trees for living that I would be lost during the presentation. I do not own a lanyard because I do not own a tree harness. Instead I use one of my rockclimbing harnesses and a sling. I usually ascend my line, girth hitch the tree with a sling, clip to it with my PAS, then advance my line up the tree and climb on. I do use the traditional SRT system which includes a grigri, ascender, and etrier. If you still think that I will have no problems at the presentation then I will be there assuming my internship mentor doesn’t ask me to come in that morning.

Thanks for all the help by the way.

See you on Friday. We may have you use one of our arborist harnesses. We have extra. You will definitely be amongst production arborists... we're all friendly!

Very good! I'll be in a pickle if I fall in love with the tree harness that I borrow because my wife isn't going to let me buy any more climbing gear, haha. I am quite psyched for this.

The secret password is "ALREADY".

Just kidding Tyler hamilton is good people,But Taylor Hamel is a Legendary arborist,Im sure kevins awesome as well in his own right, but Ive never got the pleasure to production climb with him yet. FluffyFish your in real good hands.
Im sure after this workshop there will be lots of new gear on your wish list.
I will just put it this way I flew up from Texas for the last one and it was well worth it.

Yeah we could use you thats for sure and Yeah I liked star wars when I was a kid. But still bro your aka is Tyler Hamilton,we both know how much you like being called Tyler j/k.Later bro going to bed, have fun this weekend

Awesome Taylor, so will we finally see you on a rope wrench? ;) ( you can black tape the ISC out...) it will be awesome to see one of the DRT and SRT legends in action, sadly, it will have to be vicariously for me :(

cheers!

Well, I don't know where all this legend talk started. The only thing legendary about me is my flatulence! And you'll definitely want to experience that vicariously.

Two days away, now! Having a little climb and pruning the trees tomorrow. Registration still open and also available on-site. See y'all Friday!

Horse . I am definitely not too happy about this as the other posts got me even more excited about the knowledge that your workshop would teach me. My mentor is requiring that I work a 20 hour shift until 4am on Friday and then another 12 hour shift that starts at 4pm later that day. If climbers all the way from Texas come to MN to see this thing I am guessing it is a pretty awesome workshop and if it wasn't for the fact that my internship required a clear head and 100% concentration I would just pull a 48 hour day. But I of course can not risk killing my patients so I am reluctantly telling you that I will not be attending your workshop.

However, if someone falls from the tree make sure that you request Health East Ambulance and maybe I can see some tree climbing action.
