2012 MN Summer Climbing Workshop w/ Kevin Bingham

I have mixed feelings about this but due to a conflict between my mentor, my instructor, and the electronic scheduling system I may indeed be attending the workshop tomorrow. I don't mean to count my chickens before they hatch but I am currently waiting on an email from my instructor that he hopefully sends me before the sunset and I assume it will say that I can't ride tomorrow.

My question for you is, what happens to the workshop if it rains? I personally love climbing in the rain and snow but will it get cancelled if it does rain like the forecast states?

Oh, and since I am no production arborist I wanted to run my gear list by you since you guys likely climb way different from me:

SAFETY
Helmet
Harness

RAD SETUP
Grigri
Locking biner
Ascender
Two biners
Pulley
Etrier
PAS for safety backup

EXTRA
Few slings
4 lockers
Belay device

JUST IN CASE
Throwline & weight
Rope
Small grapnel hook

Rain or shine - hopefully shine! Just bring a raincoat incase. I will let them decide on your equipment - but if something isn't up to par - I have plenty of stuff you can borrow no problem.

Just come on down and climb, brother! Rain or shine... looks like it'll just be cloudy anyway.

Don't worry about your gear. If you have anything that doesn't jive with our requirements, we'll have something acceptable for you to use. No worries!

Hope to see you in the morning. Registration starts at 7AM.

Park on the street on the WEST side of the park. We'll be in the northwest end.

Anyone else reading this...

Please park on the WEST side of the park. We may have some issues with a school bus and parent drop-off zone in other areas. No problem if we all park on the WEST side of the park.

So, please park on the WEST side of the park.

Thanks!

Another great class as usual!! Thank you to all involved for setting this up - I know I came away with more than a couple new tips and tricks!

had a blast. watching taylor use the v rig and various other ddrt tricks. I loved the community of great arborist that has been cultivated in Minneapolis, great to meet everyone.

Taylor, I think I figured it out, not as efficient as the v rig or m method. My srt version is not quite as effecient but its getting getting there. Taylor and the v rig opened my eyes to one area of ddrt that blows srt out the water. then there is the W rig and then even better is the WTF rig.

I thought the v was when you run your eye into another union and back to your harness without the middle pulley connection to your harness.

Maybe we need to call it... One rope, two anchor points, a pulley in the middle, and all kinds of fun!

The workshop was a great success! Thanks, Kevin for your valuable input in this year's event. We all learned things from one another; which I believe should be at the core of our Minnesota Summer Climbing Workshop series.

Great climbing, hanging out, and getting to know you better as well. You are always welcome in the Twin Cities.

Crazy Jimmy. I call that a soft redirct. Where only one leg of your climbing line is redirected. I use it all the time when i climb ddrt. Works awesome.
