2010 Southern Chapter TCC - Concord, NC

We won't know until tonight.

Ari, Otis, and Cormac were the three in the Masters, and they all did a kick job, finished it in good fashion and a little drama.

Really great comp this year.

the event ran a day early as the weather was to turn real bad which it did about one today.

What a MASTERS it was timed at 24:48 app - 24:58 - 24:50

they were in nano seconds of timing out. The events were amazing. THANKS for allowing me and David to help in the rings.

Hi all - we are home - We taook a tour of the Ribbon walk, some really great Beechs there but that white oak was amazing - and near the cabin there is ONE awsome poplar. Next time that will be the tree to get into.

Thanks John for the directions, to back I took the lower trail run and with carrying a 25 lb pack that was a sligh work out.

Great event and wonderful people

Sorry for the delay in getting the results, it has been a strange and wonderful couple of days!

The decision to go for it on Saturday came at around 9:16 AM Saturday morning. The weather reports we were seeing called for all hell to break loose beginning at 9 AM Sunday. This was confirmed by many a cell phone app.

So by 11:30 AM we had our first rotation started. 30 climbers total. We finished the prelims just before 5 PM. By this time, the weather forecasts for Sunday were turning ridiculous, talking about fire and brimstone, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria....

All the while, the weather on Saturday could be described as quintessential TCC weather, sunny with temps in the 60s.

We had the Masters tree set up by 5:30, a monster Willow Oak on the opposite side of the park that I am positive no one other than judges had seen. The top three finishers of the prelims were Cormac Nagan, Odis Sisk, and Ary Fun.

To say that the Masters challenge that we were treated to that day was exceptional would be selling it short. Scott Prophet said it was the best Masters he had seen in a decade. Sun going down, drama with every climb, and a very intimate crowd made for a magical experience. I was drinking Miller Lites.

I found out this evening the results of the Masters, just before the awards ceremony. I asked Vince (Urban Legend) not to tell me who won because these lips sink ships. I do not envy the position the scoring judges were in for this Masters. All three climbs were phenomenal in their own right.

But their must be winners.

1. Cormac Nagan

2. Odis Sisk

3 Ary Fun.

See ya'll next year in Savannah.

head to the section "Winner is..." to see the final tally, and to see how everyone did.

PLEASE note that in the pdf file two of our contestants are not on the sheet. These are Abram Zies and James Earhart. Reason for their absents from the overall score sheet is because they are not Southern Chapter members.

I am very pleased to inform all who read this that Abram had the fastest times in both the Footlock and the Belayed Speed. Way to go Abram. While Earhart came in second in Footlock. Nice work James. Also both of these guys should have a hard copy of their scores and times. If you want to know how they did in comparison -- Please PM them.

I want to say great job to all of our Judges, contestants, runners, and volunteers that helped to pull off a fantastic TCC. I am still amazed that it was pulled off with no major problems. Except for the forecast of pandemonium.
