2007

MI whips out a couple bucks for their climber reps but Hawaii's no cheap date and I want to come through best as possible so I'm watching and listening for good ideas. It won't happen without fundraising efforts on our part. A climbing seminar of some sort will need insurance before our chapter will even begin the red tape effort. Hey I know. It's small and stupid but we'll sell the remaining posters for our event on the day of MTCC on Sep. 16th for 3.00 a piece. It's a start and like Hat said, start now. Good thread.

Hawaii huh... man I am happy I am already practicing for next year. I can see both sides of the coin and agree partly with both. It is ISA that picks the location so no matter what the cost should be they take the climber there no matter where it is. You guy pay dues for a reason and this is a time that it should work in your favorite. But I can also see that certain locations are gonna be more expensive then others but it is only fair to have it at diverse areas. I personally can't afford a vacation there so in a way how could I expect them to send everyone there for a few nights.
I agree some sort of fund raising should take place to try to upset the cost of the trip. There are many devoted tree man/women that would help out in hopes that maybe one year they will be the one taking the trip no matter where it is.

I agree with Mark, . . . Man I am not sure if we gave murse any nights or meals . . . . Crap,
Fund raisers sounds like the way to go. I think Tree guys will pony up.

Jesse,
Good to hear from you, and yes positive affirmations always help the cause.LOL
Chris is working for/with a new(start up) company, "Limb Walker" Its a first class Company and they don't even advertise "topping" in the Yellow pages :). Is the Cali life treating you well? Do you know the name of the host hotel, resort, convention center?

Hey Roger,
I don't know if I'll give you or Chris much problems in October. I just have to beat Mike. Have you got a Big Shot yet? Actually, we have a spare if you want to borrow it for practicing.

The 2007 conference will be held in the Waikiki Sheraton. The ITCC and field day will be about a mile down the beach at Kapiolani Park.

Does anyone know the exact dates of the 2007 conference?

Looks like the Waikiki Sheraton's cheapest rooms are about $400 for three nights. But that would be in May.
Thanks

From what I understand the Sheraton has set aside a large block of rooms exclusively for the conference. They will be going for about ten dollars more than what the Hyatt was charging in Minneapolis, so about $170 a night I think. I will post more when I find out about alternative (i.e. cheap) accomodations.

Paul, good idea on the kegs! I'll have to brew up a few batches of Rope Burn IPA, Pine Pitch Porter, Angry Arborist Amber Ale, and of course some Accident Prone Lager.

Leon, Hey what did the NAVY say about renting us barracks and hooking us up with chow passes. Did they tell us to ram it straight up in lew of the national security issues? Whiz

Any more word on condos.etc. at the conferemce. Ive been looking at the host hotel and others.Host is Seraton Waikiki info is up at isa website.

2007 ITCC location?

Anybody know what park/location will be hosting the ITCC? The last I heard the origional choice was scratched. I emailed the ISA a few days ago but haven't heard anything yet.

I'm assuming the main component of the competition will be July 28th (Saturday) and the MC on Sunday?

Re: 2007 ITCC location?

A new location has been selected but has not yet been 100% locked in. Once it's positive I'll let you guys know. The competition will be standard with preliminaries on Saturday and head-to-head footlock and Master's challenges on Sunday.

Dorm rooms and military barracks aren't looking like they're going to work out. Apparently a significantly cheaper hotel has been lined up for judges, techs, and competitors (hopefully it's not a dump). If you are one of the above call Jessica Marx at the ISA office for more info.

If you are a judge or tech who is planning on going, please let Jessica Marx or Scott Prophett know ASAP, if you have not already done so. We may be cutting it close on the amount of personnel that will be needed to make the competition happen, so every body counts!

Allmark , condos are the route I'm taking . I'm not going to Hawaii to stay in a hotel . A little sand and sun and they just jack all the prices up . There is four of us going , for the week and we have it figured to be around ten thousand . Definetly is not Minnisota , that trip was 1/10th the price. Everybody who went to the cheap hotel in Minn. listened to the fire alarm all night .

I don't know about anyone else but I plan to spend very little time in the hotel room, sleeping or otherwise. I would rather spend the extra money on the food than the room. The fire alarms in Minnesota made the place feel like home to me and allowed for a nice relaxing night.
